"I INTERVIEWED NUMEROUS COMPANIES OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL YEARS IN AN EFFORT TO FIND SOMEONE THAT COULD CLEAN THE EXTERIOR OF MY HISTORIC STONE HOUSE WHICH HAD GENERAL ENVIRONMENTAL DIRT, AS WELL AS NUMEROUS PAINT DRIPPINGS ACCUMULATED DURING YEARS WORTH OF SLOPPY PAINTING OF THE WOOD TRIM. ONLY DEGRUCHY MASONARY AND RESTORATION HAD A SOLUTION THAT WOULD EFFECTIVELY CLEAN THE STONE WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE. I ALSO NEEDED MORTAR WORK AND THEY WERE THE ONLY COMPANY THAT UTILIZED THE QUALITY TYPE OF MORTAR AS WAS ORIGINALLY USED IN BUILDING THE HOUSE. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THEIR KNOWLEDGE, AND THEIR COMMITMENT TO QUALITY HISTORIC PRESERVATION. THE HOUSE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL GLORY WITH THEIR WORK."

"I would only change one thing. We selected a River Bordeau granite. I would have had the river "flow" in a different direction on some of our countertops. I wish Cosmos had visualization software so that we could actually see how it would be laid out before it was cut. It looks fantastic! Don't get me wrong but it is Cosmos's vision and not ours. I would have liked to have more control via better visualization. Other than this, our experience with Cosmos was excellent. They were friendly, knowledgeable, professional, responsive and timely. <br /> <br />When getting countertops with a design, do be sure you fully understand how the stone will be cut and laid out. Do look for sales and special pricing, especially if you are interested in a high level stone. Do educate yourself on how granite is sold. Do check out Cosmos. You won't be disappointed."

"I am very pleased with how the whole process went and the absolutely beautiful results.   <br /> I looked in my area (Baltimore and Columbia, MD) for someone to install soapstone counters.  I was not able to find anyone in the vicinity that was as knowledgeable and willing to work with us as Joe, the owner of Philadelphia Soapstone.   <br /> After several e-mail communications with him, my husband and I took the 2-hour drive to pick out our stone.  He carries a slightly harder soapstone (PA Original) than some of the other places we visited, and that was what we wanted.  He answered all our questions, and it was clear he was far more knowledgeable than anyone else we had talked to.  We chose our stone, he stored it for several months until we were ready for installation.   <br /> If you are going to use soapstone, it is important to have a knowledgeable fabricator and installer, since it is different from other stones, such as granite, and many fabricators are really not that familiar with it.  We found that the price from Philadelphia Soapstone was very close to, perhaps even a little less than, other less knowledgeable companies.  <br /> After our cabinets were installed (by someone else), Joe came out to the house to make a detailed template of the counter and fireplace and measure for the sink.  It did take about 2 weeks for the fabrication.  The installation was done professionally and went smoothly.  There was a slight issue with regard to the closing of the cabinet door, but it was easily resolved.  The installers were knowledge, polite, and cleaned up nicely. <br /> The counters are absolutely gorgeous!  The fabrication and installation were obviously done by true craftsmen.  There is a seam in the fireplace surround that is almost impossible to find because such care was taken to match.  The counters were cut to highlight the veining in the stone, and the finish is so beautiful that it practically begs to be touched.  <br /> Overall, we were very happy with the work and would highly recommend Philadelphia Soapstone. <br />"
