"Santos was great. He explained clearly what he was going to do based on our needs, and managed to fix and repair the problem (bubbles in our carpeting needed major stretching) much better than we had ever expected. The carpet now looks great, seamless, with no signs of lines or bubbles. Also, for the job, the cost was quite reasonable. I would highly recommend Santos and his company. Really, a breadth of fresh air."

"I hired Cesar and his crew to gut and renovate multiple bedrooms a kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Cesar, Armondo and Benjamin were an absolute pleasure to work with. Their knowledge, expertise and craftmanship are top notch. Cesar is easy to work with and truly cares about making sure his customers are happy. Cesar has an uncanny knack for finding a solution to any problem he encounters. I found his pricing to be very fair and reasonable and I quickly learned I could trust Cesar. If you are looking to remodel, finish off a room or repair any part of your interior, Cesar and his team should be your first call."

"I closed on a house that had wall-to-wall carpet in most of the rooms a week before going on vacation. I contacted Five Star and Ricardo responded right away, we scheduled for him to come see the job that needed to be done (he was very punctual), and did the work while I was away and the house was still empty. I had 2 other estimates and his price was the most reasonable. Since the house was empty and some of the work had to be done at night there were some minor issues such as a few staples (literally about 5) that were not fully removed and a spot that was missed due to lack of adequate lighting. Ricardo showed up to take care of those issues himself. Ricardo was alway courteous and professional."

"There was some fine print about only one color allowed for special deal, which precluded doing ceiling or doors or trim for special price. The provider was willing to negotiate and we were able to strike a deal to complete the areas we needed(though some will take place at a later date) Overall very satisfied with quality of the work done so far and look forward to completing the small areas still left."

"I was very impressed with this company. We had said when we scheduled the appointment that we absolutely positively needed the carpet installed within two days. We were on a very tight time table: closing on Tuesday afternoon, needed carpet installed on Weds, and then receive furniture from storage on Thursday. There was no room for error.
When the owner came to meet me the evening, right after we closed on the apartment (not Mike but his partner), he brought a selection of carpets that he said he had in stock and were available for installation the next day. All I had to do was say the word and he would be there at a specific time. If I have any complaint, it is that the selection was rather limited, but then again, beggars can't be choosers. So, I picked the color and quality we wanted. He measured. I wrote a check and told him I would tell him what time to come the next day.
Though there was a little confusion over who said what about the time of delivery (they showed up essentially before I had called to say I was ready), the installation went off without a hitch and it took a LONG time, too. I don't know if it had to do with the odor remediation or the install itself, but for whatever reason, the installers were there into the evening. Nonetheless , they did an awesome job and the carpet looks great.
I would totally use them again, though I hope this carpet lasts for a very long time. So far, I see no signs that it won't.

"This was our dream project - period!
Ever since we moved into this house last year, we wanted to replace carpets upstairs with brand new carpet or hardwood.
The decision wasn't an easy one - after months of research and numerous quotes we ended up shortlisting 3 firms. Costco was top priority and then there were two highly reputed flooring guys that we found out on Angieslist.
Quotes from all the three were nearly same. And then we spoke to Eric from Floor Expo - he came and he's different. Let it be in very detailed estimates or in his explanations to our questions. To help finalize our decision, we visited his Showroom in Fairfield - that was a turning point.
While we visited Costco's designated flooring showroom, Floor Expo was far superior in terms of variety, easy of selection and friendliness of staff (well you deal with owner - what else you expect :))
The quote we got from Eric was competitive and right next to Costco's quote. When we mentioned the same he was able to match it. However, we went with Floor Expo considering the choices we have and reviews his team had (he doesn't outsource or sub-contract - so that's a big plus for us). Also, Mohawk is comparable to Shaw's that Costco offers.
Scheduling was very easy - could do it within a couple of weeks and we moved it little bit here and there but Eric was very flexible.
On the day of delivery (4 days ahead of installation), his team came in with neatly packed wood and moldings. On the day of installation a member crew came - led by Baltazar - a very polite artisan!. He's no less than a perfectionist and  while speaking to him over next 3 days I understood that he is very experienced and takes immense pride in his work - no wonder many other reviews mention his name!
The crew quickly removed the furniture, ripped up the carpet, inspected sub-floor, installed 2' screws wherever there is a squeaking sound, installed Mohawk, Premium hardwood, nailed and replaced builder grade base molding with designer 3-1/2" base molding.
Through the 3 days, I had many questions and apprehensions - but the crew answered all the questions (they are near fluent in English). At the end of 3rd day, the crew gave a final walk through and fixed very minor imperfections (not installation related but sub-floor related, wood related etc.) and I am happy with the outcome.
Considering the fact that whole of second floor carpet has been replaced - only 3 or 4 minor imperfections is commendable job!!!! especially since you are dealing with natural hardwood and sub-floor that was previously covered with carpet.
The estimation of materials was so impeccable that we had just one box of wood left. So overage was less than 4% which means you save a lot of $$$.
Eric was texting me periodically to check if things are going as planned and I appreciate that owner is taking the projects very seriously.
The project was completed few hours ahead of schedule, bang on estimated amount and quality was acceptable to me and my wife's(yeah surprise - the lady is also good with the quality - hooray!)
Strongly recommend - these guys cant go wrong!"

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Hoboken, NJ

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
