"First of all, my mother was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February. She does not have very much long to live. We hired a moving company so that we would not have to be screwing around with any of that and it could all be done by the moving company. We paid them $700 and they did not move everything. He argued with me about packing. We talked about packing and then, he claimed we never talked about it. I had written it down. I would not have written it down if we had not talked about it. What he ended up doing was he tried to get me switched to another day. I told him that I could not possibly be switched to another day and it has to be that day that I already scheduled. He was supposed to come at 8:30 a.m. and instead, he told me that he cannot come until between 11 and noon. That is because he shoved somebody in ahead of us and after us. Then, he was strapped for time. So, he did not do everything he was supposed to do which cost me and my siblings to spend four days packing and moving the rest of the things into storage while my mother is dying. Then, I found out that Mr. Bauer is dead and that this business was sold. His wife sold it. It is a whole lie. It is not a 50-year old family business. Some guy bought it from his wife. It is not even the same people. I would have never gone with them if I had known that. So, I was not happy with them. I would never use them again. I would never recommend them to anybody."

"We've used Chamberlain before to clean/drain our septic tank. Unfortunately, the previous owners of our house built a deck directly over the entrance to the septic tank. This only allowed for the hose to enter from the side of the deck instead of directly straight down into the opening. This also prevented the use of the sticks & shovels to really get in there. At the suggestion of Chamberlain from there last visit, I got my handyman to create a nicely made pull out "1 piece" of the deck section covering the entrance hole of the septic tank. During this visit Chamberlain was able to go straight down into the septic tank opening with the various size sticks, shovels, and hoses. The 2 fellas worked their tails off to make sure they got in there and got rid of all the waste! I saw some of the waste (toilet paper & wipes) shooting through the hose like a rocket from time to time. After about 90 minutes of going at it and being very thorough, the job was finally done like it should have been (straight down into the septic tank opening). These guys were just great and the $15.00 Angie's List coupon was honored."

"We were fixing up/cleaning up our house to sell, and so had piles of shingles to throw away and so I looked Alpco up online (I'd driven by many times, but didn't know all the stuff they did.) Most places, we'd have to rent a dumpster for way too much money for the small amount we were dumping. (It was looking like a few hundred dollars for a dumpster). <br /> Knowing they took scrap, I threw some old copper wires/pipe bits and other metal things in the van to drop off with all my junk, and I thought, literally I'd get a dollar or two for it, but it was better than throwing it in the trash. <br /> End of story is that things went smoothly, people were very friendly ( they must train them to be nice, since it was sooo consistent). <br /> Even when we had a few cars waiting to drop off and no one seemed to be around, an employee that mustn't have been the one on duty at that station popped up, was nice, and took over to keep us all moving. <br /> AND on the way out the pay lady told me I had dumped a lot (shingles are crazy-heavy— 530 pounds!) and knocked 30% off... plus on dropping my scrap metal off (that's next door in the industrial looking area in the blue building), I almost totally broke even on the deal. <br /> One thing that I wasn't sure about was that recycling drop off is totally free, so I'm glad I brought some overflow paper from our moving cleanup. They also took the little camping propane tanks I had, which I wasn't sure they would... they go in with recycling it turns out. They also take bottle return if you need. We've been frustrated with the Wegmans/BJ's automated machines, so this would be a good option. <br /> Financially, I spent about $37 on dumping (for over 500 lbs... normal price was 10and cent;/lb). <br /> I got about $34 for the scrap I almost pitched in my weekly garbage. <br /> We did have to haul everything there compared to just getting a dumpster, but I thought the savings were worth it (if you are relatively close to Macedon and have a friend with a truck, etc). <br /> I wanted to write this review, since I had no idea what they did, or that the scrap part was a way I could have been picking up a little money, rather than pitching everything with our weekly garbage after house projects, etc. Also, check out their , web site, as it explains things pretty well. <br />"

FAQs for waste, junk, building materials and debris removal and hauling projects in Holley, NY

To throw out stained, broken, or infested mattresses or couches, call a junk hauler or take it to your local landfill yourself. If it’s infested with pests, you might want to call a pest control specialist near you. If you have infested furniture, there's a good chance you have an infested home, too.

Tipping furniture removal services is not mandatory, but it is a thoughtful way to acknowledge their hard work and professionalism. If you're pleased with the service, consider tipping junk haulers 5% to 10% of the total cost or $10 to $20 per worker. This is especially appreciated when the job involves heavy lifting, navigating stairs, or handling bulky items. Tipping not only rewards the workers for a job well done but also fosters a positive working relationship.

If your furniture is in good condition, you have a few options:

  • Donate to charities: Organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and GreenDrop often accept furniture donations and may offer free pickup services.

  • List online: You can list your items for free on local online marketplaces or community groups to find someone who needs them. Giving away your furniture not only helps you clear space but also benefits others in your community.

The cost to haul away junk depends on the haul’s size. A single item costs $60 to $150 to haul, with each additional item adding $20 to $40 to the total price. Hauling away a full truckload of trash or other junk will run $400 to $800.

Yes, some furniture retailers will haul away your old furniture when they deliver your new items. This service may be included in your purchase price or offered at a discounted rate. It's important to check with the store to see if they provide furniture removal and whether there are any requirements, such as a minimum purchase. Utilizing this service can save you time and effort in disposing of your old furniture.

In many cases, you can dispose of furniture in a dumpster, but regulations vary by location. Some areas prohibit items like mattresses or upholstered furniture due to environmental concerns. It's best to check with your local waste management authorities or dumpster rental company to understand what's allowed.
