"It went very well. Mike was very knowledgeable. He cleared the line and installed a valve that would keep the problem from occurring again. This was after another plumbing firm had given us an estimate for over $800 while Mike fixed the problem and made an improvement for $275. We highly recommend Servant Plumbing."

"Peeples plumbing was so easy to work with they were able to accommodate my schedule and work around a late rescheduling. The tech that came out to install my gas grill was very knowledgeable and instructed me how to swap out the propane orfices for the new gas orfices. He was also very neat and careful not to damage my newly laid sod. I would definitely recommend using Peeples Plumbing and I will call them again for any plumbing jobs I may have in the future."

"Andrew was very prompt and efficient. He provided me options for the water heater repair. He cleaned up very well after he finished the job. When the job was done, he walked me through everything that he completed. Would hire again!"

"Went great. Maddie H. came by and found the problem with my old water heater. She setup the install for me. Bradley K. installed the new water heater the next day and did an excellent job. Both individuals were very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Great job to everyone concerned. Thanks!"

"We had a leaking pipe and Jay came out within hours of my call. Charged a fair price for patching up the line so we wouldn't be without water for the night. We liked his work and customer service so much that we got him to repipe our house. He did a fantastic job at an awesome price. He also put in our new kitchen faucet. He's fair, honest, and hard-working. You don't need to look any further."

"

This was a follow up from a recent visit during which time tech, David, detected the A/C problem, the source of the leak.  Accompanied by Anthony, he arrived on time per scheduled appointment.  Polite and professional, they worked very well together regularly communicating with each other (and me) as needed for maximum efficiency ensuring thorough and proper completion of the work.

Compared to techs from other companies I've used in the past couple of years, David is the ONLY one who discovered and identified specific (multiple) issues relative to the condition and placement of various A/C-related parts & equipment previously installed at my property.  Despite the fact that his recommendations meant performing extra work, David provided this service to achieve the highest level of quality.

He explained the advantages of addressing these items, e.g., increased efficiency & lower energy bills due to lessening of unit work load.  It was this extra attention to detail and his commitment to doing the best job possible, along with his overall work style and apparent knowledge & expertise, that convinced me to choose him and this company for this important repair.

btw: This process started when I initially called for a quote on REPLACING the entire HVAC system. After asking me a couple of questions to determine the age and overall condition of the system, my1st phone contact, Karen, suggested scheduling an appointment for a diagnostic check to determine whether a REPAIR would be all that was necessary.

Perhaps that would extend the usefulness of a unit which appeared to have more years in its life thereby sparing me unnecessary expense.  Also, she reminded me of the company's discount(s) available to Angie's List members.  I appreciate the company's approach to my situation.

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Hollywood, SC

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
