"I was very much impressed with the installers and their work. They left the place cleaner when the left than when they found it. They also put in a patio cover for me and they did great on that also!"

"Spoke with Wes about potential project, and our special interest in retractable walls. He was very straight-forward and clear about things that go into overall cost of sunroom (size, height, type of glass, doors, windows, glass to floor or pony wall, all walls plus roof of glass, or part traditional materials) plus 2-3'footers under all walls of the structure, and addition by HVAC for heat and dehumidification. Their sunrooms are efficient enough to take down an exterior wall of the house, and have the sunroom serve as the exterior wall. Others that have low energy efficiency by WA laws must maintain a door between house and sunroom. Ballpark estimate was provided and noted that a crane may be required to life beams in place. Global Solariums in Vancouver, WA manufactures the sunrooms, and Wes speaks highly of the engineer that reviews the design plans. I was very impressed with his clarity and concern that I have a good understanding of likely cost and why. We agreed that I would contact him if and when we are ready for a site visit, which we will do if we decide to proceed. At this point, the cost is too high for us to proceed. (ballpark est. $100K-with 76K for sunroom at past year's average cost per square foot of roughly 170/sf ($120/sf and higher than $170/sf which again varies by the list provided), plus 24K for HVAC and concrete. I love when information is provided without high pressure or manipulation, It shows respect for the customer, and it speaks to the integrity and honesty you can expect when the job is getting done."

"Lisa is a genius! With creativity and precision, she maximized every nook and cranny of our tiny 1906 cottage and brought it into the 21st century, while maintaining its original charm and character. Our "new" home is so much more functional now, and a delight to live and work in. Lisa took the lead on our projects (kitchen, bathroom, basement), but Adam is equally savvy. Both are fantastic listeners, brainstormers, collaborators, total professionals and all-around lovely human beings. We highly recommend Christie Architecture, and look forward to working with them again in the future!"

"It went perfectly. I called and spoke to the office immediately. They came out the next day on a Sunday prepared to give an estimate and complete the job. Everything is done. They performed quality work with quality products, very professional, clean-cut, honest, efficient, fair price. We are very happy and highly recommend them."

"<p>Installing something this large and heavy probably should be done by a professional but I tackled it myself.   The installation</p> <p>is fairly straightforward as long as you have something solid to bolt the brackets to.    We have been using this awing now for</p> <p>two seasons and I can tell you that it is German Engineering at it finest.   Extremely well made and the full cassette Venezia model</p> <p>not only looks sharp but it protects the awning material from the elements which I expect will mean a longer life.   We looked at</p> <p>other products before buying this one and nothing comes close to RetractableAwings.com in terms of quality.    Remember that</p> <p>you are sitting under this thing so you want it to be safe in any weather.   We actually just purchased a second Venezia awing</p> <p>and that is going up now.   Eric at RetractableAwings.com  has been great to work with and created renderings for us to</p> <p>visualize the awing on the house before we bought it and then stepped me through the purchase process.  They also have</p> <p>great technical and parts support should you need it.    I would rate them at the very top of their business.        </p>"

"It went beautifully from start to finish. Excellent product choices, and quot;cut aboveand quot; decor recommendations and complete satisfaction with his work. We consider Rafael a craftsman, rather than a carpenter. People often slow their vehicles to take in the beauty of our and quot;magicand quot; cottage -style home. We often recommend him as a qualified, detail-oriented builder.. <br />"

"Contacted R & W concerning purchase and installation of flooring in our; kitchen, laundry room and family room. We were not sure which direction to go; bamboo, hardwood, porcelain, ceramic or a combination. Discussed our thoughts with the owner and he offered to come to our home, get some measurements (a distance of 40 miles one way) and give us an estimate, at no cost. After the initial estimate we changed our thinking and decided to remove the laundry room from the equation and add in our dining room and had settled on either oak or bamboo. Again the owner came to our house, at no cost to us, and remeasured the subject areas. He also took the time to discuss the pros and cons of each floor covering, not attempting to lead us in either direction. The estimate(s) was given us two days later and after some discussion (and much research) we decided to go with the bamboo, and very glad we did. The installation began on time, was finished expeditiously, and exceeded our expectations."

"I had a very old garage that was falling apart.  It needed removal and I needed a new garage.  The contractor I hired, Lo's Contracting, recommended Premier Design as an option for me to get plans drawn so that I can have consistent bids for the project. <br /> Prem, the owner of Premier Design, came the next day to meet with me.  After listening to what I wanted and looking at a couple of photos of garages I had, he took measurements and discussed the kind of services he can provide me. Those services included drawing up detailed plans of the garage.   Although it was clear where my old garage was, my actual property line was not clearly established.  I therefore decided to hire a seperate company to survey the property and then Prem was able to complete the plans. <br /> I reviewed the detailed plans and Prem responded to all my questions.  He also made a minor adjustment of putting in two windows instead of one. Prem also went to get all the permits needed for the project.  All I needed to do was to get my contractor to start the project. <br /> I did end up hiring Lo's Contracting and the project is almost complete (I'll do a seperate review for that when the garage is finished).  <br /> Prem's plans were so thorough that the contractor and sub-contractors could follow everything and at each step of the building, inspections were passed on the 1st check. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Hood River, OR

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
