"McKenzie Plumbing was great. I called after business hours thinking I would get their answering machine. Instead, I spoke with one of their plumbers. I explained my problem and he said he had that part on his truck and he could come by the same evening. The pluymber showed up around 10:30 pm and fixed my water heater. He did not charge overtime/after-hour rates. I was impressed and appreciative. Highly recommended!"

"Tar Heel Basement Systems has done both a foundation stabilization and then a year later, crawl space encapsulation. The James, James, Jeffery and Terell team were definitely the A-Team. They were all great to work with, pleasant, efficient, and hard-working, and went above and beyond in the quality of their work and attention to detail. Thank You 'A' Team!!"

"Tim did a great job with the replacement of our water heater. Even though it was the day after Thanksgiving he moved some of his other appointments around to come to our home that afternoon. Tim and his assistant were careful to put on shoe covers in the house and to observe COVID 19 precautions. The job required more complicated plumbing since we have a desuperheater loop from our geothermal heat pump that connects to the water heater; the additional charge for this work was minimal. Tim was here until after 5:00 that evening, with the result that we had hot water over the weekend."

"The professionalism of the service provider was great. The price for the installation services was atrocious. I was charged nearly $1800.00, most of it going to installation fees. Examples: To replace a $10.00 diverter valve which took 15 minutes, the installation fee ~$245.00. The fans cost around $300.00. The installation charge over $800.00. The hose bib cost ~$6.00, installation fee was $290.00. Future customers should be aware of these excessively high installation fees."

"Finally after 25 years, I have found my Plumbing Company. First the office staff was so very friendly, and helpful and I cannot thank them enough for all of their assistance. Then Mack the Plumber came out and was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He explained what was wrong with my dinosaur of a tankless water heater and installed in a very highly rated tankless water heater, took the old one with him and cleaned everything up. Fantastic company from beginning to completion!"

"We had Austin H., Victor, and Junior install two piers to stabilize a foundation crack in our home. They arrived on time, discussed what was going to be done and finished up when they said they would. Very knowledgeable crew. A very good job overall."

"Emmanuel Home Services did an excellent job with painting the interior of our home. They were very receptive to my feedback, and displayed professional pride in the quality of their work. They tore down wallpaper in the kitchen and in two bathrooms and did an excellent job in restoring the walls in those areas. You can't tell that these walls were hidden under wallpaper for 44 years and they look great. I would most definately hire Emmanuel Home Services again for any future painting needs and would strongly recommend them to those looking for painters to enhance the overall quality and appearance of their homes. We feel like we have a new home with the quality of services we received. They have earned an A as well as a 5 Star for the services they rendered in our home."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Hope Mills, NC

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
