"I cannot say enough good things about the work done. I needed patio repair of a patio that had been neglected for 20 years and cracked by oak tree roots. Most of the patio had to be removed which was done in a day and a half. Some of the patio had to be replaced with new concrete and some was OK as it was. All of the work was completed in three days as promised. The finished product was much better looking than I had imagined it would be. That's because he did more preparation and finishing than I expected he would. I would have been OK with less but the company owner, Thomas Strickland wanted to do a job that he could be proud of and he did. "May Day did an outstanding job from the initial quote to completion of the work. The grass in our front and backyard was struggling, with many patchy areas. Clay and roots were also an issue. Marc reviewed our yard, and then provided us with what we felt was a fair proposal. As requested, he had broken down each element of the proposed work so that we could pick and chose to fit our budget. He also suggested additional items such as underground drainage hose from our rain gutters to a wooded area behind our house for improved drainage. He provided a list of suggested plants for our flower beds, designed for climate and the look of the house/yard. The work proceeded well with the crew. They brought in fill dirt and topsoil, and graded it nicely. This included breaking up some of the areas of clay in the front yard, and making a nice blend with topsoil. in the back yard, he had suggested a gentle slope away from our back patio, which was elevated somewhat from the rest of the backyard. This was done well and looks great. They laid approximately 10,000 SQ FT of sod between the front and back yards. They also prepped the flower beds by removing the roots from the previous shrubs, and installed a variety of plants in a pleasing design. They cut-in the edges of the sod to fit sidewalks and driveways, and around trees. The job looks very professionally done. This work took 7 or 8 business days. The crew cleaned up sidewalks and the driveway at the end of each day. The workers were courteous and respectful of our property. There are a couple of minor issues which Marc has promised to address. We would certainly use May Day again for landscaping needs. We have recommended them to acquaintances."

"Like a previous reviewer, we called Salvo Pools after reading a story about the little boy who was electrocuted after jumping into a pool with a faulty pool light. Our pool light kit was original to the pool and was in need of update and repair as it didn't work and was causing me much anxiety. <br /> In addition to the pool light, the grout around the top tile was falling apart which we believed was contributing to water loss during, and a host of other small pool/spa items were in need of repair/replacing.  After searching Angie's List, we emailed Salvo Pools for a consultation and estimate. <br /> My email was immediately answered by Barbara noting that someone would be in contact with me soon (and we were contacted by Ryan Salvo a few days later). Great customer service from both of these individuals.  <br /> Ryan came out - at a time convenient for us - to inspect the pool and provide an estimate. The consultation and estimate were free which is noteworthy since local competitors often charge a flat fee for just coming out to do an inspection.   <br /> As we were in the "thick" of pool season, it took approximately 3 weeks for the repairs to get underway which was understandable. It took 2-3 visits to complete all of the repair work (we still have one outstanding issue that Ryan is researching), but overall we were very satisfied.   <br /> Our only gripe, if there is one, would some minor communication issues between us and the individual completing the work. It was requested we leave a door unlocked to give the repair crew access to our pool controls in our home. We left a back door unlocked (all day), but the repairman later told us that he was unable to complete the job that day as he couldn't find the unlocked door...this communication happened via an email AFTER the workday had concluded.  A quick phone call to myself or my husband would have alleviated the  "where is the unlocked door" issue and hopefully expedited our repairs. <br /> That being said, communication between ourselves and Ryan Salvo have been great. Very responsive and patient with questions or concerns. We will continue to use Salvo Pools for repairs and are looking into them for monthly pool maintenance as well. <br /> <br />"

"We found their name on Angie's List. We had three exterior doors and besides that they put a storm door on the front and back door. We had double doors along the back of the house that housed the ac unit and the hot water heater. Those were the original ones that were 50 years old. My husband had patched them so many times that it wasn't even worth it so they installed nice solid doors out there, so we were just happy with that. <br /> They also put shutters up on either side of our front windows. We have 2 big front windows on the bottom floor and on the top floor we had 2 smaller windows on the front side of the house. <br /> The only problem we had was that they had to special order everything and we waited and we waited and finally my husband called, that was in August that they came out and measured everything. The owner of the company came out and measured and then I think he came back a second time just to very everything. We waited and we waited and didn't hear anything so finally my husband called. The doors had come in and whoever was in the warehouse handling that didn't tell whoever they were supposed to that the doors were in so there was a little bit of a drag, we would have had them a little sooner. So, that was the only problem that we had. <br /> The 2 young men that came to install the doors did a wonderful job and we just felt very comfortable with them. <br /> They always let us know when they would be here so we weren't surprised and we weren't waiting all day. They got here early and finished on time. <br /> We've already had them come back for our storage room door."

"My old steps were really bad.  Looked bad, steep, narrow tread, wobbly handrail.  A difficult installation, many factors had to be considered that I never thought about.  Involved some exterior plastering eventually.  Stairs are really beautiful now.  The rock facing Irv used is beautiful.  These stairs are such an improvement, words don't express it.  Irv is a great guy, easy going, knowledgable.  Very fair price and a great result.  This is not a simple project by any means.  Very satisfied. <br />"
