"William and his crew were punctual, courteous, and professional. William walked me through the process for the work, inspected the areas he needed to access, and answered all my questions with enthusiasm which made me feel respected as a customer. They worked diligently and when the whole job was complete, including air quality testing, he walked me through for approval. I truly think my basement was left cleaner than before they started. I had nothing to clean up, throw out, or pick up after they were done. I am so pleased I used BlueStone for my Asbestos removal project and their pricing was right in line with a competitor. Thank you!"

"This is a high quality mold/fungi/fungus testing company, with excellent customer service and follow-up. The phones were picked up on the first call each time, and arranging for an appointment was very easy. They arrived on time, were efficient, informing, and friendly in their work, and brought commercial equipment to perform the test samples. The follow up phone call and email on the test results was good, and they provided a potential remediation plan for us to follow on the test results. The third party lab utilized by them had easy to understand numbers, graphs, and descriptions of what was tested. We will do business with Gardner Services again in the near future, and will recommend them to others."

"It was amazing! I needed this to happen fast as we were in the middle of redecorating. I called Kevin at 9:o0 and he said he could be there at 10:30. He showed up, did 8 samples from various materials and had my answer the next day by 2:30pm. Thankfully, I had no asbestos and my mind cleared and I was very happy. He told me the cost of simply getting a removal permit in Cook County and I was very thankful I spent the $500 for the service including 8 samples tested. Kevin charges $300 plus $25/sample. I had 8 areas that needed it. The best $500 I ever spent. I called other services that wanted $450 to come out plus the $25/sample. Kevin was fast and priced well."

"Superbly.  I am convinced that Don was one of a few people who helped save my family's health from Lead.  He was generous with his information even before we hired him.  He took the initiative to talk to the neighbors and the neighboring contractor before I even hired him, as the situation looked so incredibly inappropriate and unsafe.  He also insisted that we get tested (by another firm) before he would provide abatement services.  I am VERY grateful for that advice, as there was a possibility that I was going to not take the situation as seriously as it merited.  The lead levels found in areas near the neighboring house were absolutely lethal.  Don and his crew seemed to do a very thorough job abating the lead.  This Thanksgiving this company is one of a couple that I am so thankful for.  They might just have been doing their job and taking it seriously, but in my mind they also protected my family, especially my children who are the most vulnerable to lead dust.  Take lead seriously.  It is absolutely poison in so many ways and NO LEVEL IS SAFE.  If you have concerns, hire this company to clean it up!  And, good luck with it. <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Huntley, IL

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
