"As with any seasonal company, get on the schedule early. We had one section of concrete removed, re-grading for run-off to flow away from the house into a rain garden basin they dug, and put down asphalt on a gravel 3 car parking area, with the asphalt butting up against the 110 yr old brick house. This was a tight area to work being at an old house in Minneapolis. This company was the only one to address my drainage needs upfront in a way that made me feel confident that I wouldn't have a pool of water where we previously had an issue. One day the grading crew came out. A few days later the asphalt crew came out. I thought it would all be done in one day, so communication could have been better about this aspect. I did take the time off work on both days to be on site. I'd recommend everyone do this, regardless of contractor, when it comes to this type of work. It's easier to correct things with a crew on site or answer a question they might have about your preference. This is hot, messy work. Advice to homeowners: Provide your crew with cooler full of bottled water and gatorade. It'll go a long way toward establishing good will with guys working **** ** your behalf."

"Drew and his team did drain tile for a few houses in our neighborhood.  We asked a crew member if we could get a quote, and Drew  came over to give us a quote that same day.   The rates quoted were very competitive, and although we waited for almost 6+ months later, he honored the price.  He was also very willing to come by to the house one more time to discuss the project, the work that we needed to do, and what we could expect from him and his team.  When we were ready to schedule, Drew was able to schedule the work within one week of us contacting him.  <br /> Drew and his team were very courtious, and friendly. Drew was very professional, knowledgeable when discussing the work and our basement situation. His work came with a warrantly which shows that he stands behind his work. <br /> They came promptly at 7:30 am both days.  <br /> Day 1: They dug the trench, carried out the failed drain tile system, and installed the new system. <br /> Day 2: installation of the sump pump and poured the concrete over the new drain tile system. <br /> They set the alarm when they left each day.  <br /> The only minor compaint is the screen door they used to go inside and out was left dirty and smudged.  Other than that, everything was great! <br /> We hope that we do not have to see Drew again - as our basement now will be nice and dry! <br />"

Expert Asphalt didn't think our driveway was in that bad of shape and quoted adding an overlay of the 3" of asphalt. They saved us a lot of money. Crew was quick and clean. Their sales associate (Al Lien) was knowledgeable and helpful, but no pressure, which I personally appreciate very much. They had a range of options, and in the end we chose to use HardiPlank which was less expensive than LP at the time of our project. The Hoffman Weber price was very competitive (and significantly lower than the high-pressure company that came out). The installation went well--the crew was hard working and pleasant, and communication with the project manager (Pete) was easy (the installation was done in February, so, weather affected the days of installation). "I had a bit of a tight window to get the job done, because the city is replacing my road and wanted any driveway replacements complete before the final layer of road paving was put down. Kris responded quickly to my call and was finishing up an estimate in a nearby town. We made arrangements to meet at my house an hour later to look at my driveway and get an estimate. That went smoothly, and Kris noted the subsidence at the garage apron and some slight crowning between garage and street. She said they'd cap the footings if needed, grade down to remove the crown and let water flow to the street, add a bit more class 7, and make the driveway level with the front step and the garage floor. Her bid was also the only bid that included references to nearby jobs - I had to ask for those from other companies. Price was mid-range of the estimates I received. Fairfax was able to commit to timing that worked with the city road project, and I liked what I saw when I looked at other jobs they'd done. Overall response time and information conveyed in conversations during the bidding process was very good. I was told what I needed to do prior to tear-off, what could be done between tear-off and repaving, and how long to stay off the new driveway after it was paved. The crew showed up on time on tear-off day, removed the old asphalt, graded, put down and rolled the new class 7 underlayer. About 10-14 days later was paving day, and again the crew showed up on time and put down the new driveway. I saw Kris driving the roller and checking the slope with a long level. Very happy with the new driveway, and would certainly work with Fairfax again if we needed another one."
