"I asked Juan to re-tile a large area destroyed by a slab leak repair. He was prompt and courteous; did a beautiful job; and left the area immaculately clean. I would highly recommend this company!"

The workmanship is really beautiful. The new tile and baseboards have revitalized my home. :-) I love my new floors! Additionally, the team listened to my particular requests and custom extras. I believe Carmelo has extensive experience in this field. He is an excellent craftsman and a true artisan. "Excellent. Jonas and Pat were punctual, professional, trustworthy, responsible, and insightful. We will hire them again. Jonas has a good business going on, so it is prudent to schedule 6 weeks prior to the start of the job. It is also prudent to understand and appreciate that there may be unforeseen challenges with the construction of your home that may cause challenges to the job that Jonas has no control over. Fortunately, Jonas’ experience was able to minimize any issues that came up with our job. Jonas and Pat started the day on the job site between 8-9 a.m. and worked a full day, prepped well and left the site orderly. I recommend going the route of buying the material yourself, as this is an area another contractor could mark up the price of your job. As mentioned, Jonas does not use this business practice. It is prudent to order and purchase your tile, etc at least three weeks before the job to alleviate any logistical issues. Jonas indicated the job would take five days and he finished it in five days. Jonas’ eye to detail and patience in completing the job very much impressed me, and the finished product looks fantastic. We highly recommend Jonas Jensen, he offers a quality job at a good price."

"We had a prior meeting to review what was involved in preparation (moving furniture and other objects) for the cleaning of the tile and grout. On the 17 April 17 Eric showed up and started the grout cleaning and completed the job in about 4 hours. The grout had not been cleaned for 10 years and was nearly black. He did a great job, the grout lines were a light gray again and tile look like new. He sealed the grout lines and left the space clean. Eric was very careful working around the furniture we were not able to move. It was a real joy to hire someone who is so professional and pleasant. The whole experience was excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend Avalanche Cleaning to anyone."

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Isleta, NM

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
