"Awesome experience They placed floor protectors down prior to starting. Did a great job installing the floor. Cleaned everything up and did a walk through with me when they were finished."

"Purchased Carpet on 8/26 with an install of 8/31 recived an automated call at 7:30am the morning of the install and said we would done in the afternoon that the installer had a previous job in the morning. We didn't hear anything until 2pm on the 31st when the installer called and said he will be there between 3:30 and 4:30PM. He arrived just after 4:30pm and it took him till 7:30pm to complete the job and he rushed through it, he was exhausted. This is the 2nd time we have used Empire and the previous time we went through the same exact experience. I called the company to discuss the issue with the general manager and he basically said "Not everyone can be first and if the installer arrived before 6pm that still is satisfactory to him... Umm? The work looks nice I stayed on top of job to ensure it was done correctly vs. the last time we used them and it was not done correctly."

"It went well - Marshall and his crew were great to work with. Able to work around our schedules, and had great/fair pricing after calling about 4 other contractors for quotes on our work. He also came back to ensure everything settled right and was up to his/our expectations and standards. I will be using Guy Flooring again for other projects!"

"We have repeatedly, over 10 yrs. had upgrades to our lake home. They have installed laminate flooring, linoleum, carpet, bathroom tile, and I wouldn't consider anyone else for the job. The salesmen were knowledgeable, friendly and willing to drive to our location as many times as we had questions. The installation was done by a detail oriented individual which put my mind at rest. If there were a problem, which we didn't have, you know you were in good hands and they would make it right. Jobs were done to my satisfaction, and I've been told , is hard to achieve. You would do  very well in choosing this company for your next project, no matter what the size! <br />"

"In early August, 2014, we shopped at several places for replacement carpeting for our living room, bedroom, hall, den and stairs (all the same carpet) and wanted the job done by Labor Day Weekend.  We chose KB Carpet to do the job because we liked and trusted Kevin, the owner, and felt that the price for the quality of the carpet and pad we chose was very fair.  We had had problems with a seam showing on our old carpet and Kevin promised us that he would install the carpet and that because the carpet we chose came in a 15 ft width there would only need to be two seams and that they would not show.  Also, the installation would be done in our <br /> time frame.  We gave them half of the purchase price on August 9th, 2014. <br /> However, they got back to us the following week and said the manufacturer couldn?t provide the carpet in the time frame promised.  <br /> We decided to wait and have it done by KB anyway. <br /> The date of Monday, September 15th, was set for installation and Kevin said the whole job would be done in one day.  When we <br /> called just before the weekend to check, Kevin said it would be Tuesday before he could get here. <br /> Tuesday came and it wasn?t until just before noon that two workers (not Kevin) showed up saying that they would be doing the job.  They said that KB had waited until the morning of the installation to pick up the carpet in the Twin Cities (about 70 miles away). On the way back, their truck broke down, and it was middle afternoon when the carpet finally got here. <br /> It took until the afternoon of the next day to finish the job.  We really liked the carpet but there were 4 seams showing (a couple of the seams appeared to be patches where they had measured incorrectly) and where the carpet met other flooring the edges were stapled <br /> and the staples showed badly.  The installers said that the carpet needed to relax and that those problems would disappear. <br /> It soon became evident that they were not disappearing.  We called the installers as we had been instructed, and they came over <br /> to work on them with no real improvement.  We called Kevin to come over to look at the problem and the installers came back again.  This time they pulled out the staples from the edges and installed an invisible metal edge.  They also worked on the seams again with <br /> little improvement.  In talking to Kevin, he said he could fix the seams without pulling up the edges.  Days later he said he couldn?t do so and would need to pull up the carpeting edges.  He also said he couldn?t come until after Thanksgiving.  Then we made the decision to wait until after the holidays because furniture would again have to be moved. <br /> Because of illness, vacations, and other reasons ? some our doing and some Kevin?s ? he and the original installers finally came back in Feb. 2015 and fixed the seams as best they could.  Of the 4 seams that were badly showing, 3 were fixed pretty well.  The one remaining seam that is still is not to our satisfaction is in our bedroom hall area.  They told us to wait a year for the carpet to soften and they could come back and fix it again. <br /> Would we buy from KB again? Yes, but only if Kevin did the installing.  Also, we would not pay KB in full until we were completely satisfied. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Janesville, MN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
