"Since this remodeling was the first remodeling that we decided to do after a long time since we did our last remodeling that required to hire a contractor to do it. The kitchen that we wanted to remodel, need to includes the cabinets, floors, island, counter tops, hardware, paint and lighting. All the low voltage lightings, the special insulation that they used, the extra protection that they installed in the window that I have in the kitchen and more… All of this features improved the energy protection at the kitchen. They followed up with me the following day after all the final documents were signed off by me about the work in order to make sure that I was happy with the final results. I'm happy to mention that kitchen remodeling project was completed a little bit before the due date."

"I bought an Angie's list deal for dry wall repair but really they just spread some spackle on it and left it rough. I had to scrape off the blobs of spackle left on the ceiling. My boyfriend could have done the same job. I wanted them to actually replace the dry wall where it was cracking. Mainly they wanted to sell me more jobs and pushed me to sign on with them to get new insulation in the attic. I had them give me an estimate on rain gutters while they were here. Their estimate/prices are very high. I think they have to pay for all those people manning the phones. It sounds like a boiler room when they call."

"The HERS audit consisted of a home inspection that mapped the exterior, listed all appliances, HVAC, Water heater, etc. They also performed and Door Pressure Test and Duct Leakage Tests. All these figures were placed in a computer model and the output was provided to me in 2 reports, an existing state and the impact of recommended changed on a future state. 
The testing procedures were interesting but the reports are the what you are really paying for. I my case my newer home was relatively efficient and the recommend changes addressed my comfort level concerns, but were all relatively expensive. Per the model, a majority of my electrical expenses are associated with my appliances, so energy savings were comparatively minimal.
Recommendations and Costs
1) Convert to "conditioned" attic space, requiring the installation of closed cell foam in the rafters of the attic and the removal of all existing batt insulation (~$7,00)
2) Install an ERV whole house ventilation system to provide continuous fresh air
3) Replace 5 existing double pane windows with 5 new triple pane windows (~$2,500)
4) Install open cell foam insulation in my south facing walls (~$3,500) when you include repair and paint walls
These recommendations will dramatically improve the comfort in the upstairs, but ultimately energy saving paybacks are many years. I plan to implement recommendations #1 and #2. I also plan to install Solar to stabilize my electrical bills.

"we were very impressed with out solar endeavor. The installers came when they said they would and finished their job within the same day. We added insulation to our attic to reduce our heating and cooling for the house and replaced 2 old windows . All the guys were great from Idan who evaluated our home, office staff and installers. "Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"We kept hearing noises for quite some time; so I called All Pest Pros from information on Angie's List.   Without other estimates, etc., our decision was based on their inspection and our reviewing of what needed to be done, and we selected them to begin immediately.  On the day of the inspection, the inspector sprayed the outer limits of our yard to help stop any other "varmints" away from the house and entering through holes under our roof line which we could never have seen if they had not inspected and showed us.  The next routine was to spend 2 whole days closing up all holes left open by our builder!!! and setting traps as a precaution while completing the process of removing all insulation, clearing, disinfecting & de-odorizing using a special "orange spray" in the entire attic space.  Final step was to replace ALL of the insulation with a better insulation than we had before (8 inches) to (approximately 12 inches).   They also left a couple of traps even tho they had closed all holes to check later as another precautionary step.   We will contact them later for closure on this step.   We HAVE NOT heard any critters since they left!!  I recommend their work!  We were given some cost breaks due to Angie's List and being senior citizens, and it did help with the costly repair!"
