"I contacted Paul, the All Seasons Cleaning Services owner, after an ill prepared contractor cleaned gutters that had overflowed after a heavy rain (we purchased the home a few weeks before). Though the gutters passed inspection, they were not draining properly. Paul responded quickly to my Angie's list inquiry. He arrived on time the following day & assessed the situation; thoroughly checking gutters & roof. He took photos then discussed what he felt was necessary. He said the gutters were in as good a shape as could be expected given how they'd been originally configured. He suggested he perform some roof maintenance/repairs including sealing exposed nails in roof & flashing + sealing roofing that wasn't properly sealed. He also replaced two cracked drainage 'boots.' To be 'safe' he retreated the roof for moss. Paul & his crew showed up on time, did a fantastic job, took photos then explained the work they performed. In every interaction, it was OBVIOUS Paul puts his customers first. He's a dedicated, savvy pro who takes pride in doing his BEST. I doubt anyone could have done a better job. THANK YOU, Paul. We'll rehire him for future service. And MAY hire his services for spring cleanup and/or some hard-scape work."

"<p>I can not say enough good things about custom Deck and Fence Maintenance. As a home inspector of 35 years I have a pretty good idea of how to hire a good contractor. I allowed for 5 bids before hiring CDFM due to Craig's knowledge of fencing, the wood product, his answers to my questions, prompt communication, and a fair price. Craig's crew did an excellent job replacing our rotten fence on a property line that is adjacent to four neighbors. They communicated well from delivery to execution. We had a small glitch that became evident after the build and Craig returned immediately to fix it. The crew was polite, intelligent and worked practically non-stop. The build was excellent, the wood was quality. I stained it myself a week later and have had many compliments. We had a lot of plants that were growing on or close to the old fence and I made an effort to protect them. They respected my efforts and did the same. Two of the three sides (involving two residents and one renter) of the fence were completed. One of the neighbors had them install an additional fence and another neighbor is planning on hiring them as well. The third side (104 feet) has renters as well and the owners communicated with us to wait until they had some landscaping completed in a few months, which we are doing. </p> <p>One neighbor who we share maybe 15 feet of property line with did not participate financially and has since posted a bad review which we totally disagree with. Our 25 year old fence (bought and paid for solely by me) and his  at least 28 year old fence (never replaced since I have lived here)  that extended beyond our shared property line was falling down due to rotten posts, hence the reason for the replacement as there are swimming pools on two sides. I had heard dogs and observed temporary farm fencing  put up where there is a gap in the common corner - due to a failing fence. I spoke with the occupant ( a renter) face to face about the project, wrote down my name and phone number to contact me and suggested they might secure their fence since it was already in disrepair and falling down. No one ever contacted us or any other neighbor. The property owner now claims CDFM caused their fence to fall down by disconnecting from the corner post.  It did not fall any further than it was already leaning and was in fact secured by Craig's crew since the occupant did not follow my suggestion. His fence is failing due to rotten posts.  The third side of the fence (awaiting replacement after landscaping) which is 114 feet long and perpendicular was also totally disconnected from the corner  post and is also not falling over at this time.  There is no logic to the poor review and many mis-statements. </p> <p>In conclusion , I would hire CDFM again and I have already done so for another person I represent. We have also added his company to a list we hand out to the clients of our home inspection business for reliable references in the construction industry; they are a great group and deserve consideration in your decking/fencing projects.  </p> <br />"

"Our deck was sorely in need of attention. A high-end contractor we talked to about replacing a fence that had fallen down recommended Dari for the deck refinishing job. This was in early 2016. We called and got a bid (only one) but it seemed a bit steep (not necessarily unreasonable, just money we didn't want to spend at the time) so we didn't ever get around to following through. Finally, this spring (a year later), I emailed Dari to see if the bid was still good. He said it was and to let him know if we wanted to schedule something. I failed to write back and was wondering why he hadn't gotten in touch once the rain stopped. When I realized it was my own oversight rather than his, I wrote back and he immediately replied and said, how about this week? Sure enough, a couple of days later he and his crew showed up and got to work. Dari knows his stuff and his crew worked hard and took care of our property. They ended up stripping, sanding and refinishing an ipe deck of about 8' x 10' and the stairs down to the yard, plus staining the fence that we had finally had rebuilt (our side and our neighbor's side). Communication was good, everything looks great, and we have greater peace of mind that our property is protected from the elements."

"The installers - Mike A and Morgan - were fantastic.  They were here on time and went to work immediately.  The fence was taken out and they begun putting the new posts in within an hour.  They worked quickly and efficiently.  This was all done in a driving rain storm!!!    I would have this company assist me with any fencing/decking needs that I may have in the future - they are great!! <br />"

"I really liked that they sent someone out after the pressure washing to test different stains to help me choose. This was really great. I also really liked to option to pay over 6 months. My bill was nearly $5000 so that helped. The workers were very nice. I had an overall good experience. One thing though was that after the pressure washing and sanding I pointed out a few times that when the deck was wet there were several places where it looked as if it needed further sanding because it was discolored. But they assured me that it would not cause a problem and they were wrong. Those discolored areas are there."

"The accent shingles on my house were very dirty and the paint on my front door was blistering and chipping away. I wanted the two to be a single color complementing the color of the house. I got bids from several contractors; all were pretty much in line with each other in terms of prices. There were two factors in my choice to go with Absolute Painting an Power Washing. First, the reviews I read from various sources shows their quality is stellar; second, their color consultant spent the time necessary with me to choose the right color ( not included in the bid ). They spent two full days stripping the door of its old paint, and then prepping and applying primer and paint to the shingles and door. When all was done, I was amazed at how it turned out. The new accent colors added character to the house. Their workmanship is second to none with no flaws in the areas they painted. They even went as far as providing touch up to the trim where paint had chipped off over the years. When I'm ready for the house to be fully repainted, I now know who to turn to."

"Our prior inexpensive paint job unfortunately lasted only about 4 years before giving up and allowing water to penetrate the cracked stucco finish applied over the top of a brick building.  We were looking for someone to correct the mistakes of the first attempt.  Joshua came twice to inspect the facades and provided a detailed bid with a generous warrantee to back up their workmanship.  Although the bid was a bit higher than we had hoped, upon closer examination he proposed to do a very thorough job.  In the end, the strong warrantee convinced us that he was confident his crew up to the task.   <br /> They began by hand-scraping and power grinding any loose material from the open cracks and then followed the paint shop specs by using approved caulking, a thick elastomeric primer and two top coats of acrylic paint.  Between coats Joshua kept stopping by to check on the former leak inside and even went back for some additional crack repair before finishing the job to make sure the new coating was watertight. <br /> The job site was kept clean and tidy throughout the project and we are much more confident of the durability of this work over the short prep and thin coats of the last paint job. <br /> Although it is perhaps too early to comment on the performance of this coating, I would definitely recommend Shepard Painting going forward based on their professionalism and attention to detail. <br />"

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Kalama, WA

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
