"Dusty was amazing to work with. He did an outstanding job and we could not be happier. We ended up hiring him to do our fathers house too. He installed laminate flooring there and it turned out amazing. He also did trim work there that looked excellent. He is very reliable and does amazing work. We usually don’t like to refer people but we have no hesitation referring Dusty. He truly is the kind of guy you can give your house keys to and trust 100%."

"Great. The salesman was easy to work with and talk through our space--actually helped us identify and purchase a cheaper carpet that met our needs just fine.  Was able to walk in and make the transaction in less than 10 minutes.  We used Matt for the install and he was great--came exactly when he said he would and was done exactly when he said he would be. <br />"

"We visited the Santa Fe Drive location in OP. The sales people were very helpful without being pushy. They offered recommendations for our questions and allowed us to take samples home (more than once) to see what we liked. After a few visits we made up our mind. Everyone showed up on time for measurements and installation. Carpet looks great and we can't even see a seam. We've had complicated experiences with subcontractors so we liked the fact that this company had its own installers who were professional and knew what they were doing. There was one person to deal with and, if we'd had a problem (which we didn't) we're sure it would have been simple and easy to take care of."

"Stretching and repairing went well and they worked around other contractors. Did not clean carpets since his method was not the right product for the condition of carpet. Went out of his way to contact me."

"In our past we had used carpet direct and felt the sales person although nice, did not make good on install problems.  Fast forward to when we moved into the home we live in now.  I met Steve when he came to my real estate office at our Tuesday morning meeting.  I had him come out to our home to give us a.bid to install carpet in our entire home.  Very professional but also personable, so much so that my dog Angus, had a ball playing with him! <br />   The work was done as promised, and the installers he used did a good job, which is very important.  Who I recommend to my clients, reflects on me.  I always let my clients know that Steve will be honest and take responsibility for the entire job.  Needless to say, I have always felt confident when I recommend Steve's Flooring!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Kansas City, KS

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
