"<p>I told the person in the store that I just wanted a small section of carpet.  When he discovered that there would be no large sale, he pointed towards a bin across the floor and lost interest. After buying the carpet there was no offer to help carry it to the car.  Perhaps if you're buying a larger piece of carpet, your customer service experience will be better. I did not do any other shopping to compare prices, so the rating for "Price" is just a guess.</p> <br />"

"We visited the Santa Fe Drive location in OP. The sales people were very helpful without being pushy. They offered recommendations for our questions and allowed us to take samples home (more than once) to see what we liked. After a few visits we made up our mind. Everyone showed up on time for measurements and installation. Carpet looks great and we can't even see a seam. We've had complicated experiences with subcontractors so we liked the fact that this company had its own installers who were professional and knew what they were doing. There was one person to deal with and, if we'd had a problem (which we didn't) we're sure it would have been simple and easy to take care of."

"Gary was great to work with. He brought samples of carpet to the initial appointment, and helped guide us in our selections. I spoke to several on his list of installers, trying to find one to fit our schedule. They all seemed professional and eager to help. The day of installation, the installers got a late start, and then got lost on the way to my house. That was the only snag. They worked swiftly to install, and the carpet looks great. I am very pleased with the whole experience."

"Everything went great. When we went to the showroom Karyn did a great job at answering all of our questions and concerns and helped us pick out the flooring. Bill came out a couple days later to measure and we received a quote in the mail a couple days after that. The installation was scheduled for a couple weeks later and everyone arrived that morning as scheduled. They did it all - removed baseboards, the appliances, and the toilet. After the floor was laid they installed new baseboards, hooked up all of the appliances, and re-installed the toilet complete with a new seal. They even replaced a baseboard in our master bath. The workers were all gentlemen and professionals. You could tell they knew exactly what they were doing. If I had to make a negative comment it would be that I could have used a heads-up on the dust that the installation would make so I could have covered some things to make the clean-up easier. But overall we are extremely happy with the results."

"In our past we had used carpet direct and felt the sales person although nice, did not make good on install problems.  Fast forward to when we moved into the home we live in now.  I met Steve when he came to my real estate office at our Tuesday morning meeting.  I had him come out to our home to give us a.bid to install carpet in our entire home.  Very professional but also personable, so much so that my dog Angus, had a ball playing with him! <br />   The work was done as promised, and the installers he used did a good job, which is very important.  Who I recommend to my clients, reflects on me.  I always let my clients know that Steve will be honest and take responsibility for the entire job.  Needless to say, I have always felt confident when I recommend Steve's Flooring!"

"Before I moved into my new house, I needed to have several areas of the carpet re-stretched. Virgil met me at the vacant house the evening before my movers were coming. He looked around and gave me an estimate, but could not do the job right then. He offered to come back early the next morning, so that the job could get done before the furniture arrived. So that I wouldn't have to come back the next morning, we made arrangements so that he could let himself in without me. He re-stretched all areas that he said he would and they look great! He did not vacuum up the little pieces of carpet that were cut off, but I don't know if that is SOP. Virgil did a great job and is very trustworthy!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Kansas City, MO

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
