"Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this place. I was excited due to their high ratings but we had a bad experience. I called to make sure they could clean wood floors and at first they said they didn’t, but later said they could. They steam the wood floors exactly like the tile, which I asked if it’s appropriate to steam wood, as I thought you couldn’t - he insisted you could. After the cleaning, there were flakey clear parts of the finishing/sealant of the wood that had come up. I asked if that was something they could fix and he said they could come for another cleaning and reseal the floors once they get the sealant in stock. It was our only option they gave us (even though I believed that would make the flakes worse) so we agreed. This was back in November. We had called them multiple times over the next 2 months to see if they ever got the sealant in and if someone was going to come back out to fix the floors. They said they would relay the message and let us know, and we’ve been ghosted. The floors are still messed up and we paid the full amount for it. Very disappointed in their service."

"Brightway Carpet Cleaning is an excellent business. They truly care about the satisfaction of the customer and will go to great lengths to achieve that. I had used them before on our prior home and was extremely satisfied with them then, but now I could not be happier with their services! We just moved into a new home that had carpet that had not necessarily been well-cared for or respected. I had Brightway clean the carpets (of which there is a lot of square footage) a couple days before we began to move in. However, once we arrived at the home, the prior owner had still been living in the house in the couple days' interim (they were supposed to be moved out but they did not) and left the carpets very dirty again in some areas, including pet accidents that were left to sit. This rendered the carpet cleaning we just paid for not nearly as effective as it should have been. I explained the situation to Brightway, and they told me that they would come back out and clean all the carpets again for me at no charge because that situation was out of my control. They also came out to the house on two separate occasions to look at the carpet and assess the ductwork/ventilation system for potentially needing to be cleaned. That is AMAZING customer service!!! One of the best parts is this, though. We concluded that the ventilation system needed to be cleaned also. My entire family had been struggling with allergic reactions (coughing, sneezing, lots of drainage) ever since the first day we stayed in the new house. It was particularly bad overnight, and we were all losing a lot of sleep. Dallas not only came back out and cleaned our carpets a second time, but he thoroughly inspected our ventilation system and did a fabulous job of cleaning and disinfecting it. The very first night after he did it, we all noticed an immediate difference in how we slept and we didn't experience any of the allergy symptoms we were having. My two little boys are sleeping well and not struggling. Every day since the ventilation cleaning has been a dramatic change for us. That is priceless! Dallas did a fantastic job and is committed to excellence. Kevin, Dallas and Denise have helped us so much! Cannot say THANK YOU enough!"

"Kitchen/Family Room Remodel 01-02/2023 Scope: Remodel included kitchen area and family room, plus laundry room and walk-in pantry—a total of about 600 sq ft. . Area was last remodeled in 1992—when new cabinets were built in-place. Capmire Projects’ remodel included: painting all wood cabinetry (inside and outside), baseboards & wood trim, wood doors, walls and ceiling; replacing: tile floor, countertops, backsplash, plumbing & sinks, all electrical outlets and switches, hvac vents, undercabinet lights, and all ceiling lights—including 11 cans and a chandelier over kitchen table. Modifications in cabinetry were made in the laundry room and pantry to add more shelf space. Drawer slide-hardware was replaced to provided smooth operation. Process: Capmire’s team arrived on 01/16/2023 and the entire job was completed 24 days later on 02/08/2023. Work proceeded every day, except Sundays, from about 8:00am to 5:00pm. Subcontractors were used on plumbing, electrical work, spray painting, and quartz countertop installation. We were kept informed on what would be done each day—either by Cameron Capps, the job manager or by Roberto Mejia, the job foreman. None of our questions were discounted or ignored. Honesty was paramount on everyone’s part. Change orders were easily dispatched—especially when they were decided before it became onerous to do so. The quality of work is excellent, and we are very satisfied with the final product. It should be mentioned that the homeowner is responsible for selecting and purchasing all finishing hardware (cabinet knobs and pulls, for example), two sinks, faucets, light fixtures, and new appliances (two garbage disposals and microwave). Budgets are included in the bid for slabs and tile. Clearly, the selection and availability of these items during the progression of the job is a determinant in reducing the time span of the project. Recommendations: We spent two weeks packing up and moving everything from the work space. Boxes of kitchen items, artworks, etc. were moved to a bedroom not in use. Furniture was moved to an adjacent living room/dining room area—where plastic zipper doors were employed to keep dust isolated to the work space. Dust was undoubtedly minimized, but it still invaded—try to cover as much as possible with plastic sheets. Remodeling is not necessarily an easy or unmessy process—but it can be made much more difficult by messy workers and poor management. ( I know this fact from experience with other contractors.) Final Review: Without question, we can recommend Capmire Projects for any remodeling needed. In 2015, Cameron Capps and company remodeled our master bath. When, we decided to embark on the kitchen remodel in 2023, we did not hesitate to call him in again. His honest and rigorous management of the project; his retention of good workers and selection of good quality subcontractors; plus his experienced cost estimations combine to create a satisfying experience for the homeowners. Final Total Cost: $43,800.00."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Katy, TX

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
