"From the initial consultation to the final inspection, Lock Tight Impact Windows and Doors delivered an exceptional experience. Their team was professional, knowledgeable, and completely transparent about all the options available. The installers treated my home with care, protected every area they worked in, and kept the site clean throughout the process. They were efficient, respectful, and clearly skilled at what they do. The new impact windows and doors are excellent quality — we immediately noticed a major reduction in outside noise and heat. Most importantly, we now have real peace of mind knowing our home is well‑protected for storm season. Highly recommend Lock Tight Impact Windows and Doors for anyone considering upgrading their home. Their workmanship and customer service truly stand out."

"BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! Poor workmanship, no accountability and are not willing to honor their warranty. Complete re-roof lasted for *LESS THAN 5 YEARS!!!* I just purchased a property that J&K Roofing did a complete flat re-roof on September 2019 (as shown in the permit picture). A home inspection on December 2023, just a little bit over 4 years since they did the re-roof on this property, determined that the roof has *ZERO* lifetime and needs to be completely re-done immediately. Keep in mind that the inspection was done on December 2023 but the roof condition has been like that for at least a couple of years in order to reach to these condition. Which means that the work they did maybe, at best, lasted for a good year or two. A COMPLETE ROOF RE-DONE I mind you!!! I contacted J&K Roofing and asked for the owner to call me back after I provided them with all the inspection reports. Took him a week to get back to me, and he will not take any responsibility nor will honor their “transferable warranty” they are “selling” to people. They blamed everyone and everything but their poor workmanship. They blame the manufacturer, the previous owner, the termite, the rain, they even excused the poor condition of the roof as an “act of god”. What a joke. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. It is clearly that they only want your money and will tell you and sell you everything just to get it. They do not guarantee their poor job."

"I am very pleased with the new aluminum roof they installed for me and my daughter. They did two homes and did an absolutely beautiful job. They covered everything so nothing got into the pool and communication was top notch. I always was able to talk with someone as the project progressed. They were always quick to respond and answer any and all questions. I would highly recommend this company."

"I recently worked with Elite Affordable Roofing, and they exceeded all expectations. From the initial consultation, Bryan was thorough, professional, and very knowledgeable. His estimate was detailed and clear, with no hidden surprises. He made sure to explain the different roofing options available, helping me make an informed decision. Not only did he offer a better price than other companies I had spoken to, but the quality of work was outstanding. After the roof was finished, Bryan even took care of arranging the gutter replacement, making the whole process seamless. I highly recommend Elite Affordable Roofing for their outstanding service and competitive pricing."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Kendall, FL

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
