The exterminator then conducted his inspection but failed to notice some of the evidence of wood-destroying insects that our home inspector had already flagged for us. Fortunately, our home inspector was there to share the additional evidence with the exterminator. Ultimately, the exterminator quoted us over $1,000 for treatment ("a deal"), but he said that before proceeding, the sellers would need to clear their garage so that the exterminator could conduct a more thorough inspection. <br> <br>We engaged a second exterminator to conduct a follow-up inspection, and he (a) did not charge us for the inspection, (b) completed it without requiring that the sellers clear their garage, (c) quoted us less than $1,000 for treatment, and (d) generally inspired more confidence. <br>"
