"We chose Lyman brothers to provide the grading/excavation of our backyard, which was a good sized project. From the start, their communication was great, the pricing was fair, and they did not hop from job 2 job. They were focused and dedicated to our project until it was completed. They were happy to answer questions and we would definitely recommend them to anyone needing these services. Moving forward, any land clearing or excavation we need, we will be calling them without a doubt!"

"<p>It went great.  I could not have asked for more.  Pam and David were great to work with. They made great suggestions  as to materials; suggested good suppliers; coordinated the entire job which involved  at  least 4 specialties; All this with a minimum involvement in my time.  All I did was pick out the materials I wanted based on  selections that provided that were based on my specifications.  When issues came up, then handled it.  In short, I got just the job I wanted,  no hassle, great quality, at a reasonable price.  They gave upfront firm quotes on everything; performed the job on time.  Quality was great.  Easy to work with. Pam went above and beyond by searching out just the right materials to use for back  splash that fit everything together.   When  I called, they either answered  the phone or called right back.  What is not to like?  </p> <br />"

"Noah built and installed two cabinets and a drawer for our kitchen to match the existing custom cabinets. He was responsive, professional, and pretty fast. This was a straightforward job, but I'd been trying to find someone who would do it for a long time and couldn't get a taker. It was not very interesting work and I'd have loved to give Noah more of a challenge, but this is what I needed, and he did a beautiful job. The cabinet and drawer doors match so well people can't believe it when I tell them they were built to match and are not original. The interiors are beautiful. I got exactly what I asked for, and exactly what I needed. Wish Noah hadn't moved, so that in 10 years when my kids stop destroying my furniture he could come restore my family heirloom pieces!"

"Reliable Building provided a free estimate and came out in a timely manner and performed the work exactly as quoted. They worked worked with the local inspectors to insure everything was up to code prior to completing the job. My wife and I were very pleased with the work performed and we would hesitate to call on Reliable Building again."

"Very well. Over several years, Mark painted our whole interior; designed, built, and painted custom bookshelves; tore out old plumbing fixtures and installed new; installed recessed lighting; designed and installed beautiful cantilevered shelves; redesigned thrift-store furniture (with creative input from his super-talented wife); and more. Honest and incredibly hard-working. Even since he moved out of our area in Virginia, he has continued to advise us on DIY projects and on jobs for which we have had to engage other handymen."

"After the initial call and estimate it took 14 days before they came to the house. We had an electric gate opener repaired (which has gone out since they repaired it) and plumbing work, which also needed repaired in a few weeks by another plumber."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Kingsport, TN

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
