"I rarely, if ever give 5 star reviews. But, I DO recommend Maynor Construction (MC)! But, 5 = perfection, and nothing is perfect : ) I hired MC for cement siding and sunroom addition project, beginning in June of 22, ending Sep, 22. I will review the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. But, this doesn't cover everything, because Home Advisor only allows so many characters. Finally, this was my first (major) home improvement project and likely the largest investment I will ever make in my home. The Good - Maynor (owner) is a very knowledgeable and a skilled builder, with many years of experience. I appreciated that he was actually on site many days, not only supervising, but also working along side his team. - The administrative staff was magnificent. Responsive, knowledgeable, friendly, and available. Having the right people in the front office can make or break a business. Hire the right people to manage the office and it will pay dividends toward the success of your company...in my humble opinion. - I had fiber cement siding installed on my home, and a sunroom that replaced an old, broken-down outdoor breezeway. This was no easy project and teams of highly-skilled workers were at my home daily, typically from before 8am until nearly sundown - and even partially on Saturdays. We were blessed with very little rain through the 3 months, which accelerated the work. Maynor's team worked very hard, moved efficiently, and maintained a great level of skill throughout the process. The Bad - For the most part, none of my utilities were affected all that much. Utility boxes were moved away at the beginning, were moved back at the end, and worked just fine. I also had a lot of electrical added and moved throughout the project, but alterations and small inconveniences were to be expected. However, there was a problem when it came to Maynor's (unintended) disruption of my ATT Fiber. While there was no cutting of that fiber, the siding was installed over the fiber and it shut down my internet. Maynor's workers claimed innocence, but it was clearly something for which they were likely responsible. The fiber cable box was moved back into place, and when I got home the internet wasn't working any longer. This required ATT to come out and reinstall the fiber cable and box that came into my house from the outside. - Kitchen flooring fix. I have a very small special strip of (tiled) kitchen flooring that had to be removed during the remodel because I wanted a small portion of a wall removed. Years ago, this strip was created with very cool, colored, (intentionally) broken glass tiles. But, sadly those tiles are no longer available. Happily, I found some of the original kitchen tile that Maynor could break-up into pieces and install into the strip. I approved a change order for Maynor to fill-in that strip of flooring, which required some pretty major cutting of the floor and sub floor. However, they cut the floor crooked and at an unpleasing angle. And, while it is not terrible, it is very noticeable to me and I wish Maynor had done a better to cut the area straighter. I can live with it, but someday I will need to replace the entire kitchen floor to maintain the professional look. The Ugly - While I live in a populated area, with restaurants, a gas station, hotels, etc... workers, laboring in extremely hot summer conditions, even with lots of shade, require lots of hydration. Those fluids need to go somewhere! Unfortunately, there were at least two instances (likely more), I personally witnessed workers finding their own ways to relieve themselves - not inside my home, nor at the gas station just next door. I complained to Maynor and they promptly brought in, at their expense, a Porta Potty, which would remain for the duration of the project. But, I had to ask them to include and only after I discovered what was happening on my property. Ove..."

"Todd and Rod Pickett the owners of Affordable Windows were excellent to work with.  Our home was one of their larger projects this year with over 31 windows being installed plus a new patio door.  This project was the largest effort we've undertaken on our home costing over $14,000.  <br /> Choosing which windows to purchase is a daunting endeavor with so many on the market to choose from. After evaluating our needs and requirements Todd recommended a company out of Chicago called Lang Exteriors.  We were not familiar with the company but Todd has used their product for years and recommended them highly.  After conducting some online research we discovered they were a 60 year old company and one of the largest windows manufacture in the mid-west.  We instructed Todd to order the windows and let?s do it. <br /> Approximately 30 days later Todd and crew began the job.  It took them over a week to complete all the installations.  During <br /> that entire time they were very respectful of our home, our property and our landscaping.  But more importantly the quality of the windows and installation was superior.  The difference these windows have made in our home has made the investment well worth it.  <br /> We live near a busy road and the noise reduction we estimate is around 40-50% and air infiltration is nil. <br /> The only issue we encountered with the windows was a crooked grill in the patio door.  My wife noticed it the day it was installed but well after the crew had left for the day.  I immediately typed an email to Todd informing him of our issue.  To our surprise Todd was back at our home an hour-and-half later taking pictures of the window to share with the manufacture the very next day. Todd requested an entire new door not just the glass insert.  As of this writing the door has yet to be replaced but I have every confidence it will be addressed.  <br /> We were so impressed with the crew and quality of work we also requested a quote to replace several bad trim boards around our home.  We decided to pass for now as the cost was too much for budget. <br />   <br /> All-and-all a great experience and we highly recommend Affordable Windows to anyone considering windows or any other remodeling project. <br />"

"I had four companies give estimates for new vinyl siding and was the most confident in what Steve recommended for the job. His crew was very professional and easy to work with. Overall, they did an excellent job installing the siding, as well as replacing areas of rotted fascia and soffit. I would certainly use Ext. Home Improvement for future projects."

"Wonderful. We originally purchased this Window through Coors 17 years ago. The seal broke and the window was cloudy. I wasn't sure if it had a warranty or for how many years it lasted. I called Coors and they looked up my order and it was covered! They came out with the window installer and made sure everything was right. I did not have to wait very long, they came at a time that was convenient for me and it was done quickly and professionally."

"Larry from Kirkenlow served as my primary contact (Jason managed my roof work). Larry provided competitive estimates for various levels of work (extra insulation layer, house wrap vs no wrap, etc), making it simply a matter of picking and choosing what I wanted. The work was completed within the agreed upon time frame. There were a couple handfuls of minor debris left in the yard afterwards, but the work site was kept very clean otherwise. Initially we thought part of my back deck would need to be pulled up to get at the siding, but the installers found a way to crawl under the deck and get the siding replaced without tearing up the deck. There were a few nail pops inside the house, but nothing that wasn't easily repaired or unexpected. It's been a few months since the work was done, and there don't appear to be any leaks so far. The siding looks very nice, as does the new roof. The upgraded gutters are great! I'll be looking to use Kirkenlow in the future for other work around the house."

"It all went very quickly, Steve did the work in the bath.  He also totally put in a bathtub enclosure downstairs several years ago.  It only took him 1 day.  Casey, David built the patio cover, they were there for three hours on day 1 as they dug down 38" and poured concrete for the supports the next day it only took them 7 hours to  finish building the cover.  I was very worried about a mum plant that I had for 23 years.  They avoid hurting it."

"We recently had a home addition built which included a 16x20 foot screened in three season porch with a wood burning fireplace.  It is a beautiful addition to our home, but one of the unknowns early on in our design process was what type of windows to use.  We did not want to use crank out windows, glass windows, or have to deal with handling and storage of removable windows.  Our builder suggested we consider EZ Screen windows.  I did not want to commit to something I had not researched, so I asked EZ Screen if there was anyone nearby that had bought the product that I could interview.  They put me in contact with someone in my neighborhood who had had the product in his sunroom for 3 years.  He was kind enough to invite me over to view his porch and see the product.  I was pleased with what I learned, and purchased the product for our home addition, which is now complete. <br /> The product consists of a screened panel facing the outside, with several sliding transparent vinyl windows facing the interior of the room.  The windows can easily be slid up or down to enable 75% open screen area.  I was initially concerned about a plastic window not being clear enough, but after seeing them I saw that they are very clear, and my neighbor?s windows (which have been exposed to direct sunlight for several years) still look good. <br /> The window panels are easy to slide up and down and stay in place well.  In fact, about a week after installation we had some very severe storms with high winds in our neighborhood.  No problems.  <br /> The panels are easy to clean with only water and a microfiber cloth.  They are also removable which makes cleaning or replacement easy.  Interestingly they are ductile, which means they can take a big impact, stretch, but recover to the original shape. <br /> There are also several door models to choose from which contain the EZ Screen panels.  They are available in several colors. <br /> I have been very pleased with this product and the service we received from EZ Screen.  I feel this is a quality product and recommend it. <br />"

"We contracted with Bee Window to install 19 second floor windows in our 100 year-old brick house. They also removed the front entryway that consisted of the original front door and two sidelights and replaced them with an energy efficient single integrated unit with much nicer looking glass than the originals had. They also reinstalled our wired doorbell into the new door unit. The process started about a week after we signed the contract when a measurement technician arrived to take measurements. Several weeks later we received stain color samples and signed-off on them. The office staff was very accommodating in delaying the install date several times when I felt it was too cold to remove our front entryway and replace it. The install of all 19 windows and the front entryway exceeded my expectations and was completed carefully and quickly in a single day. The install crew was friendly and knowledgeable and worked together as a team. One of the trailers that they brought on-site was a mobile metal fabricating shop that allowed them to cut and bend the metal exterior pieces to fit each window as needed. They installed new insulation around the windows and door unit and caulked all exterior and interior joints. At the conclusion of the install they cleaned up around the house and took away all the old windows and door pieces. Over the 40 years that we have lived in our 100 year-old home, we have worked with many, many tradesmen, everyone from larger outfits like Bee Window to smaller one-man operations. I’ve learned that there is almost always a successful outcome when there is a partnership between the homeowner and the tradesmen. I’ve learned to hire people with the experience and expertise for the job we needed done and then work with them to make it happen. I’ve found that when you hire carefully, communicate clearly, and treat tradesmen with respect you will get a superior result. Bee Window was not the most inexpensive choice, but they were the right choice for this project."

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Kirklin, IN

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
