He sat down with me to discuss all options. He answered my questions and put me at ease. We discussed schedule and I was happy he could begin in about 2 weeks. Other quotes I received were 3 month lead time for installation. I checked out his license and insurance and all current. I signed a contract and next thing I know the roof was installed and passed inspection. He even cleaned the leaves out of my gutters! His crew was friendly and cleaned up each day. I provided enough specifics (included structural report) regarding what I wanted that they were able to come to the site, measure and then provide back an estimate with enough detail that I was able to compare the bid to competing offers. The bid was detailed and the price quote fair for the type and size of job. They were willing to sit down to go over the details, but since I was already very familiar with what the job would entail, this was not required. I went with another vendor who was able to provide a custom roof tile at a slightly lower overall bid, but again given the size of the job, differences in materials or type of instal methods used etc. most bids can't be compared as apples to apples.
