"Rafael and Lilian Touch were amazing. My 1914 home in Evanston's Lake Shore Historic District is a work in progress. Not long after I moved in, part of the stucco ceiling on the front porch crashed to the ground. I think it goes without saying that it was a revolting and unexpected development. I requested quotes from the usual North Shore/north suburban firms. I received mostly eye-watering quotes that seemed completely unreasonable to me as a commercial property manager and real estate broker. Insurance and industry estimates were around a third of what many of the quotes were. Lilian Touch came out and quickly drafted a quote. "Kenny Whitelaw is the owner. My wife was happy with him and he was fine. The work done by The Renaissance Handyman does look a lot better. They did a nice job on that. The stucco work that they did was fine. If the price was way too much, we wouldn’t have done the job. I think the price was probably fair. It was pretty personal since we were dealing with the owner. We had no complaints. I am not the right guy to talk about the price since I always think everything is too expensive. You get what you pay for, but you never get more than you pay for. However, we didn’t get less than what we paid for. I don’t really know what we paid. I think my wife called a few places and they were available. It wasn’t a major job. They were really responsive. That’s probably how we got to them. We would consider using their services again, but we have kind of developed a relationship with a local outfit here. Kenny is not very close to where we live and I think he is in one of the suburbs."
