"In October I talked to this company who came over the same day to look over the prospective job.  The Contractor, the owner of the company, was very pleasant and  processional.  We settled on the price and he wanted half down which I paid him via check.  Since then he has called several times to inform me about delays in getting to my project due to other commitments he had but kept promising he would be over soon.  However, since the middle of November I have not heard from him and wondered if <br /> he was actually coming.  Well just after I wrote this in November he called and came over the next day.  He apologized  and gave me a <br /> discount on the price of the work due to the delay which I thought was very fair.   During the work he found several problems mainly with the lack of water shutoff valves.  He patiently explained the need to install them and the cost involved.  Other problems related to how the house was inadequately constructed were explained and repaired with my consent and supervision.  At the end of it all the work was done courteously, with attention to detail, professionally, and with something I find lacking in today's society, exceptional craftsmanship. I chose Stratford Plumbing and Heating from the phonebook as it was a local business. The woman who answered my phone call answered with a smile in her voice and was very personable and helpful. When the servicemen, one being Mr. Zenner, came to fix my faucet, they were very friendly and professional. He fixed my problem quickly and explained what the cause was. Sometimes I have found service people to be somewhat condescending, however talking to him was like talking to a friend, I had been a HR manager at one time, and I trained the concept of excellent customer service to many people.
