"This job finished all the floors in the house. Floors Direct has done them all, most with laminate and two with carpet. Their price has been good for all the jobs and always in line with the estimate. The installers are the stars of these jobs. Howard Ebarts' crew has done all the installations and has always done a quick, efficient and professional job. - - I rated 'punctuality' down due to the salesman's mistake on scheduling. We expected the crew to show up around 9 - 10 AM but they were sent on another job first and didn't arrive until afternoon."

"The 2-man crew showed up at the appointed time and vacummed the entire carpeted areas to be cleaned. They used a specific machine  designed to scrub, rinse, lift the pile and extract the dirty residue. All and all I thought the job was well done.  My carpets were not excessively dirty but the results were acceptable.  The hight traffic area in front of my husband's recliner did not turn out as well as the rest of the carpet. It took approximately 10 hours to dry enough to re-vacuum and put furniture back. The carpet was cleaned by 11 am on the scheduled day and I revacuumed and put furniture back the following morning. <br />"

"I visited the showroom on two occasions until I decided on the tile I wanted. I was allowed to take a sample home to see how it would loo in my house. The showroom staff was very helpful and knowledgeable and were the upmost professionals in answering all of my questions. The gentleman who came for the estimate was prompt and answered all of our questions and was also a delight. Every dealing with the office and installers was prompt and courteous. The installers were the upmost professionals who completed a perfect and wonderful job! I could not have asked for anything better. They arrived daily at the stated time and worked diligently until completion. My floors are perfect! Care was taken to ensure that I was satisfied and I am beyond happy with the results. I highly recommend Jay's Floors & More."

"We had a positive experience previously with this business as we had some tiling done. The owner does a very good job of explaining the choices. With respect to the carpeting, all costs were completely explained up front and there were no surprises or add ons. The installers came on time (the same week the order was placed!) and completed the job with total cleanup. They did a very good job of shifting around heavy furniture and returned everything to the original spot--cheerfully! It looks great."

"As anyone with a motorhome knows, the carpets fade and discolor very badly. We were provided with an estimate over the phone from Color Your Carpet. The final price was within the range quoted. They arrived promptly at the specified appointment time. After a brief discussion about what color I wanted, they mixed up a color that was exactly what I was looking for! They were done quickly and we are VERY happy with the results! My 10 year old RV carpet looks almost like new, for a fraction of what replacing it would have cost. I highly recommend Rich and Color Your Carpet! <br /> <br />"

"I had made it clear that the installation of the laminate wood flooring had to be on schedule because a closet design company was installing new closets the next day.  We'll Floor U was supposed to be there by 8:30 in the morning.  When they did not arrive by 9:00, I called the shop, only to find out that the guy who was supposed to show did not, and they pulled another installer off another job in order to get the job done that day.  He arrived around noon, and did not complete the job until 8:30 that night.  While I am appreciative of them getting the job done, I ended up helping clean up the mess in order for them to get done and protect the flooring that was laid down.  The installer was not able to put the closet doors back because he didn't have the right shims and it was too late to get them that  night.  He came back a couple days later and completed the job.  When it came to settling up with We'll Floor U on the cost, they quoted me a price for the carpet that was not originally quoted.  I had been given a written contract on the cost of the laminate wood flooring, but the area rug cost was added a couple days later and the quote was given to me over the phone.  The original quote that was given me by Tim was $514.47, and I repeated this price back to him to make sure I heard correctly.  When I called to pay the remainder of the bill after the installation, Tim insisted that he never gave me that quote, and that I owed $580 for the area rug.  I ended up paying the $580, because I had nothing but his word on the $514.47.  How I would have come up with a number like that out of the blue is beyond me, but I will not do business with them again. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lake Placid, FL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
