"All the above jobs at different schedules were done very well. Tim continues to demonstrate quality job on all my projects. The first time that I encountered Tim was when he installed a new boiler at our rental property. The job was done right; did a clean job in installing; tested all the steam registers in all the apartment units to make sure that they were all working right and tested the boiler to be working right. I was then very impressed with his first job for me. From there on, I asked for him specifically in doing my other projects. This is because I feel that I can trust him to deliver a quality job for me any time. He has been very helpful. He is very knowledgeable because he is able to answer my questions to my satisfaction. The checks and maintenance of two additional gas furnaces went very well. The check and maintenance of an AC unit went very well, too. Tim recommended to replace a defective contact sensor. The new sensor makes the AC unit run only based on temperature setting, instead of running all the time, which would then be a waste in energy. THANKS, TIM!"

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"I researched and interviewed several home inspections companies before settling on United with Nathan, and I'm glad we did! He was extremely responsive, professional, punctual, and knowledgeable! A basic inspection from him is much less than the 765, so don't let that scare you. We paid extra for a septic (where they actually pump the septic out to get a better look), and radon inspection. We've had a lemon of a house before that we got inspected, where they guy missed so much, so we wanted to be extra careful. Nathan even arranged the inspection for us since our real estate agent (not found on angie's list, won't be doing that again) is terrible and it was a FSBO. He was very very thorough with the inspection, despite there being 3 feet of snow on the ground. He looked at every inch of the house, while we asked questions, and was very patient to explain everything to us. His report was very thorough and easy to read. Every and quot;issueand quot; had it's own picture with an arrow in red or yellow pointing to exactly where the problem was, which made it very easy to take back to the seller for repairs. I would absolutely recommend him without hesitation. He was worth every cent. We are currently negotiating a new roof with the seller since nathan found an active leak, and the roof is 23 years old. We may walk away, and if we find another house, we will absolutely use Nathan again! Oh, the house is approximately 3000 sqft with the basement, and it took approximately 4 hours. <br />"

"Epic Radon Solutions out of Brighton MI responded quickly to our Angi inquiry, and arrived within a couple of days to assess our system. We replaced the old fan with a larger new one, which Dustin was able to accomplish within the hour. Very helpful, explained everything, convenient online payment system. Recommended!"

"The service we got was great and I would recommend the company. The contractor who did the work was very professional, experienced, and informative. I had been considering an additional collection point because of our complex foundation configuration; however, the contractor advised us to try just the two points (one in the laundry room and one in the crawl)  to see how it went -- with no extra service charge if they needed to return to add another in the rec room. I am so glad we heeded his advice.  The third collection point would have been more expensive for us, and it would have been an eyesore in our rec room.  After the work, the radon level went down from an average of 7.0 -7.5 to an average of 0.5 in the rec room, and the space still looks great. We are quite satisfied. <br /> I will add a small caution about the company's' processes,  though. When we initially called to inquire about the service, we found that the company doesn't come to homes to give estimates. In the initial call, a prospective customer talks to a central sales person who estimates the cost based on the customer's description of the house and the situation. Then, they email an appointment confirmation and proposal describing the work. On the appointed day, the contractor arrives to do the work.  This way of doing business does reduce the overall cost to the customer, I am sure. However, in our case part of the total work we had done was to encapsulate the crawl space -- and the information that I got from the sales rep about what that service would entail was inaccurate. Thus, I contracted with another company to do the encapsulation. When the SWAT service person came and found the crawl space already encapsulated, he said that SWAT would have done the same job. It all turned out well, and we were happy with both companies, but the early communication with SWAT was awkward. <br />"

"I can't understand all of the negative reviews. Selling my house and needed Radon Remediation as a condition of sale. No one wants to do this, no one. However, my experience was painless. From the first call to the service tech, Brad, (more on him later), everything thing went smooth as silk. Brad was amazing. Polite, intelligent, personable, knowledgeable and did he do an amazing job. Everything was explained, clearly. This job couldn't have gone better. It was so painless, that I am trying to get my sellers to use SWAT---in particular, Brad, to do the work in my 1926 house that needs the same work. In conclusion, perfect in every way. Highest recommendation."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Lake Village, IN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
