"Brett Smith, owner, had quoted us a price to remove roofing and install new.  He estimated there might be a few pieces of plywood sheeting that need replacing.  As the removal of the shingles and underlayment took place, it was evident there were bigger problems than first anticipated, through no fault of the contractor.  Prior to accepting his bid, he informed us there may be more bad sheets than anticipated, and there was no way to be sure until the old roofing was removed. The old roof was only 10 years old, and as Smitty and his workers removed the roofing, it was evident the previous contractor ripped us off big time.  He was suppose to replace old sheeting, and only replaced a few sheets (the previous roofer).  Brett and I discovered nearly 25 plywood sheets that needed replaced due to rotting (previous roofer did not vent the roof either)!
Brett & I had agreed to extra pricing for this prior to him starting the job.  Obviously, you don't know what you can't see. Brett got me on the roof so I could see the damage, and I was in disbelief what the previous roofer had done to us.  The current job had been estimated to take 3 days, but because of all the hidden problems (bad sheeting, some broken rafters, bowed rafters) it took he and his crew 4 days.  Only one extra day for all that extra work!  They worked dawn to dusk, and I mean worked.  They did not fool around at all, which impressed me more than anything. He has a great crew! I was kept informed throughout the entire process, and they were very professional and courteous.
Smitty installed architectural shingles, properly vented the roof, and did many other extra things to insure the roof would be solid, aesthetic, and built to last a long time.  To say I am happy with the finished job is really an understatement.  My wife is very happy too, and that says a lot, trust me!  I did not know Brett Smith before he stopped by to give me an estimate, but I took a chance based on my feelings about his character after going over the estimate. I had also seen his work on a neighbor's house.  We had gotten three estimates for the roofing job, and Smitty's estimate was best by far.

"I had second story doors with failing balconies. Insurance required I replace the decks but Gino suggested removing the doors and replacing with windows in lieu of a more costly approach. I was threatened with insurance cancellation on a Monday. Gino spent a few hours on a Sunday to complete a temporary siding to allow my insurance to be satisfied and is to come back for me to remove the temporary work to complete it the right way so it is more aesthetically pleasing. I was relieved he went above and beyond to help my insurance issue, and he takes pride enough to want to come back and complete the siding the proper way. He also noticed other siding in need of replacement while up there. I am having them replace that as well next week.

"We had a pipe break in our second floor bathroom. We were able to stop the leak the morning after the leak happened, and we called our insurance, and they told to call S I restoration. They sent out a crew of 4 or 5 people, tore out the carpet, and set up fans that eventually dried everything out. We started to notice that it was a while before anyone from SI restoration would come in and actually start the restoration. The demolition crew was very prompt, but not the restoration crew. When they finally would come out, they would only work for 2-3 hours and then they would disappear. The work they did was very good. The bad news is that they would send out workers and there would be very inexperienced supervisors of the workers that would come out. When the supervision is bad, the workers don't seem to work all that hard. We complained to our insurance agent because we hired them upon his recommendation, he was disappointed in them. We tried to talk to the owners, but they were out of town, and the people that they sent were so inexperienced, it was nearly impossible to work with them. We simply wanted to get the work done. My husband complained to the company and things improved from there. From there, the work started to pick up. One thing that really upset me was that they turned in hours into the insurance company that both myself, and the inexperienced supervisor knew wasn't accurate. The good news again, is that once they finally completed the job, was that it was a very good job. The bad news was that it was very poorly managed."

"We needed a new roof . We interviewed 3 roofing companies and got quotes from each. After the interviews and reviewing the quotes we decided we were most comfortable with Jesse. "Service guy came as scheduled. Sent his "service" requirements to home base Home base calls back and lists, a very long list of what needs to be done and a very long list of what is not covered and what each item costs. The overall cost was outrageous and they weren't willing to give it to me in writing. Everything I had to pay for was overpriced, of course! They told me my other option would be to purchase my own water heater and they would reimburse me for what there water heater would cost, but no reimbursement for Labor, building permit, or any upgrades required by the local building department. The requirements of the building department were minimal. I went to Home Depot and had them do the installation and saved many hundreds of dollars. Lesson learned, have AHS do simpler repairs that don't require municipal building department approval. Have AHS pay for the equipment, and purchase installation from a trusted local installer."
