"Julio did a great job removing our old unit and replacing it with a new unit. Julio was very professional, very pleasant to work with and kept us posted until is arrival. We 'really appreciated him' squeezing us in his schedule too. Would definitely hire again and highly recommend!"

Small jobs welcome

"Working with Fred and Johnny from Sunch Floors has been such a great experience! I was having trouble getting qualified people to show-up, at a fair price, to work - and do a decent job. I was referred to Sunch and WOW - what a difference. The work is excellent, they explain everything that is happening as you go along, and, they have the best attitudes. The people that they employ are also just like them! Working hard and doing great work. I had cabinets installed in my laundry room, garage and an en suite in the main house. New granite countertops, hardware, tile floors and sinks. Perfect installation and the cabinets are top notch. They are also drywalling the en suite and texturizing it. My entire house interior (6,500 sf) is being painted by a Team of their personnel. So far - I'm elated. This has been the smoothest construction experience in my life. These guys are first class and deliver first class service. Save yourself the aggravation of those who do shoddy work and don't show-up when they say. Call Fred or Johnny at Sunch. You won't be disappointed!"

"The initial guys that came out said the work would be inspected by them when finished and it was not. I had a big bag of trash and rotten wood left on my property, most likely because the awesome guys that started the project were transferred to another job. There were some items that I felt were not done great and some damage not found. The communication was not great and I never knew when the workers were going to show up. Different workers showed up for every little different part of the job. Continuity of the workers would have been great. While every person I came in contact with was very nice, the other things could definitely be improved upon."

"We had had our stairs and railing remodeled. Needed to be updated since it was so outdated from the 90â s. Matthew was very helpful and has so much knowledge and was great keeping us updated each step of the way. Matthew and Liam were wonderful to work with and had great customer service. After researching online for many months so glad I found this place! Highly recommend!!"

FAQs for wood stairs and railings repair projects in Largo, FL

Hiring a pro to refinish wooden stairs means labor makes up 20% to 30% of your total budget. That price covers sanding, staining, and sealing each step. In most cases, a certified refinisher can tackle a 10-step staircase in about two hours, then apply stain and sealant for a durable, eye-catching finish that stands up to daily traffic.

A pro can sand a standard 10-step staircase in roughly two hours, then needs another four to six hours for each coat of stain and sealant to dry. DIYers should budget up to a week for sanding, staining, and sealing in stages. With a crew on site, the bulk of the work is completed in a single day, minimizing disruptions while still achieving a high-quality finish.

It’s possible to refinish stairs without full-scale sanding by using chemical strippers, power buffers, or simply layering a fresh finish over the existing coat. Chemical strippers break down old stains and sealants, while buffers quickly shave off surface material. Even so, a quick hand-sand with fine-grit paper helps the new finish bond properly and look smooth. As always, suit up in protective gear and follow product directions to keep your wood—and yourself—safe.

For most stair projects, you’ll want two sandpaper grits. Begin with 80- to 120-grit to strip the old finish and even out rough spots, then move to 150- to 220-grit for a smooth, ready-for-stain surface. A power sander speeds up the coarse pass, but switches to hand sanding with the fine grit in corners and along edges to keep abrasion even and give stain or sealer something to grab onto.
