"Sent to two plumbers to install the faucet and make other connections, which we were charged for both of their time. This was not agreed upon beforehand. They struggled to install the faucet and seemed inexperienced with PEX piping. When completed the reverse osmosis faucet has far less pressure than it used to have. They came back to check it, but then only blamed the unit (which worked perfectly fine before it was disconnected)."

"My Technician was Malachi and he was very friendly and professional. He gave me a detailed explanation of what he was doing in a way that was easy for me to understand. He finished the job in a timely manner and cleaned up the work area better than when he started. We are very satisfied with his work and will continue to use Sun City for my heating, plumbing and cooling needs. "

"I requested higher toilets that flushed very well. Unfortunately, they trusted the vendor and the toilets installed did not flush well at all. I was hoping being plumbers that they would know the best flusher. After multiple phone calls (the reason for the C rating for responsiveness) they arranged for the vendor to supply new powerful flushers at a greatly reduced cost. They did not charge me for installation, however I could not get the money back for the two toilets already installed. I will turn them into a nice bench. They were very professional and showed up on time and worked with me to resolve the problem I was having with the first two toilets. I would hire them again."

"Work required cutting through two interior drywalls to gain access to tub and shower fittings. Approach was knowlegeable and professional--relatively clean, if cutting drywall can ever be clean! Work delayed when owner had to obtain parts not locally available. When parts arrived, Jay completed the work promptly. Two other master plumbers of different firms had tried to fix the Hansgrohe shower set and failed. Jay studied the literature, discovered the basic problems (improper initial installation) and made the right changes. The other work was routine but with unusual challenges. Jay Sartin, part owner of American Mechanical, handled the whole job very professionally."

"Overall, he performed an excellent job and he gave me good advice about cleaning the outside a/c unit to keep it running efficiently.  He also told me to be sure to change the filter in the inside a/c and heater unit every 30 days(even though the package indicated to change it every 90 days).  And he described the best type of filter to buy without getting an expensive one.  When I asked him whether to operate the a/c or the swamp cooler to save money, he said the overall cost for running either the a/c or swamp cooler was really a wash during the time with high humidity, since the cost to clean the swamp cooler at the end of the summer and the cost to start up the swamp cooler and replacing parts for the swamp cooler offset the cost of the electricity used by the a/c.  He also reminded me that the air conditioner would not run continuously unlike the swamp cooler during high humidity and that the a/c would keep the house more comfortable than the swamp cooler.  With that said, I am going to consider running both a/c and the swamp cooler alternatively next summer. <br /> In summary, the serviceman perform an excellent job and gave me invaluable advice.  So I would highly recommend using 1 Call for all plumbing and heating/cooling needs.  Regarding the price, I would say I got what I paid for and more."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Las Cruces, NM

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
