"Our design consultant Michael Cruz, was very friendly, helpful and determined to get the discount we asked about even though it wasn't in the system yet. He also arrived wearing a mask, without me asking him to put one on. Scheduling was very professional, easy, and nice. The carpet installers did a good job too, got everything done in one day. We chose Molyneaux for their great prices on quality carpet, but their friendly team made it easy for us to want to use their services again in the future. "

"Would highly recommend. Susan Polanski was our consultant. She was friendly and professional. She spent quite some time with us as we went through all the options. She gave us quotes for work we wanted right away as well as estimates on future work we wanted done. Carpet installation was also a great experience. They were in and out quick and extremely courteous. We will be calling Susan again for our future flooring needs!"

"Our Molyneaux Design Consultant, Steve Porter (cell 412-860-1928), visited our home in early July using all Covid-19 safety protocols. He brought several “books” of carpet samples for us to review and we did so in the actual room where the carpet was to be installed. Steve was knowledgeable, courteous, and a pleasure to work with. We selected a carpet, it was ordered by Molyneaux, and it was installed along with new padding in August. Molyneaux’s installers were professional and efficient both in moving furniture and installing the padding and carpeting. They removed the old padding and carpeting completely and cleaned up any leftover debris. The entire experience with Molyneaux and Steve Porter was exceptional."

"Professional from beginning to end. I just bought my first home and was looking to carpet 3 bedrooms. I worked with Amy Walsh and she was great coming to our house and helping pick out styles that matched both in design and need."

"I visited their storeroom. It looks small but they have a ton of product to choose from. They scheduled a time and date to come for the estimate and arrived when they said they would. I agreed to the terms and received a call a few days later to schedule the installation. The cost may seem high for the size of my bathroom but about half of my subfloor had to be completely replaced so there was a lot of extra work involved. Day of installation they arrived on time. They were very nice. After about 2 hours one of them did leave (he was a very tall guy and my bathroom was so small that for both of them to try to work in it was difficult so they agreed he could leave). It probably took much longer with only one of them than two, but that was fine with me. When it was complete the only part I wasn't happy with was the clear caulk he had put around the tub, as my tub has some rust spots along the bottom and they were showing through it. Without any complaint he redid the caulk in white and it looks perfect. I am planning on getting some new carpeting and will definitely look at FF again for that job."

"We have used Remnant City several times for carpeting and had always been happy with the carpet and installation. Recently we purchased carpeting for a finished basement. The carpeting itself is nice but the installation was done very badly. Edges around a vinyl kitchen floor were left unfinished. Areas around a heat register and a fireplace were very sloppy. We had a lot of work done in that area and 2 different contractors commented on the poor quality of the carpet install. The worst part was that Remnant City offered no assistance in getting these areas fixed. We were directed to call the installer directly, but he essentially said that was the best he could do. Calls and e-mails back to Remnant City yielded no response."

"Mike and team refinished our hardwood floors in the living room and dining room. Work included sanding, staining, and coats of polyurethane. They also addressed the gap between the floorboards and floor that was left from removing the carpet. Work was completed over three different days and Mike and team came out exactly when scheduled. Floors look great! Would recommend."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Latrobe, PA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
