"An excellent experience. 

I called Jim in a panic.  I explained that the crew from a tree service  just left our house, having cut through our chain link fence in two places to remove three small weed trees from our yard.  The problem was, that fence separates our yard from our neighbors' yard -- and their two dogs, who would be running around the yard in about six hours. 

I desperately wanted that fence fixed before they got home.  I told Jim my story, and he promptly called one of his project managers, who left a job on the other side of town to come over and fix our fence.  I couldn't have asked for better work or a nicer guy to do the repairs.  "

"Called another company originally they asked how old the furnace is and I said about 5 yrs. old (it is 6 yrs old). They informed me that I should get a hold of the company that put it in because it should still be under warranty, which after I looked it was. So I called Service Today to set up an appt. to have them look at it. Andrew came out and with various questions asked I said that the thermostat we have is wifi and that is how we run it. Comcast upgraded the wifi in the neighborhood the day before and it was today I woke up and noticed that the thermostat wifi was not connected to the wifi anymore. He looked into it and noticed that when I put it on heat via by phone app or manually by the wall thermostat, it was turning on the A/C instead and visa versa. He came at a price to me of about $350 to run a diagnostic to find the issue. He did and then he comes back and tells me that the thermostat itself is burn out (I bought the thermostat from them when I had the new furnace installed 6 yrs. ago). Andrew goes to his van and of course comes with only 2 thermostats that he has on hand. One is not wifi and it was $350 or so and the other was $800 which was wifi programmable. He did say we could just go and get one from Best Buy or something but we would have to install it. We decided on the lower cost of the 2. As he was installing it I looked up the retail cost for the same exact one he was putting in (Honeywell T4Pro) and it was $75 at Best Buy. I mean really.........that much of a mark up in cost!!! It is like this company does not understand that we are in a pandemic and that money for so many people is really really tight!! To gouge customers like that. As I sat in my office crying about the cost I let myself get washed into, after a while I asked Andrew why such a big cost increase on the thermostat. He said he has nothing to do with the pricing of items, which I understood. Andrew was a nice guy and just doing his job. I put this gouging at the feet of the company because right now, people have to decide to either pay a heating/electric/etc. bill or pay a company a massive cost to have a thermostat put in. Andrew did take down some wires that were for a humidifier that was on the old furnace prior to installing the new one and also cleaned some dust and lint from the furnace. Will I call these guys again, only if I know that there is something wrong with the furnace that is under warranty still, other then that, I cannot afford them. They were better when they were Airtech. The C rating I gave it has more to do with how nice Andrew was then the company. For the company itself, I give it an F"

"Once it began, construction was swift and precise.  The level of craftsmanship is exemplary!  When completed the fence was the final touch on years of gardening and landscaping.  It really ties all of the elements of our landscape together, not only physically but visually as well!  Great work!  We will readily hire Hal and his crew again for the next phase of our landscape improvements!

"We paid a lot bu they were amazing, just outstanding. We had one small problem and they were back immediately and fixed, and they came out again actually to make sure it was good. We were gone and they waited for us to get home to looked at it and check it. It was pricy. You can get back to the and you can find them. We thought it was worth it."

"Ted, the owner, provided us with a prompt, thorough, and reasonable estimate. This was a year long project, due to extensive remodeling. We did have some scheduling issues along the way, and had to really press him in order to meet a few deadlines. We felt at times we were back burnered for other jobs. This did cause us some angst along the way. We understand that in this economic climate contractors need to take in all the work they can. However, we expect open communication about any delays or changes, and that didn't always happen. In the end, everything was well resolved. And, Ted was willing to be flexible with us when we needed to make changes to the job. He was honest and fair, and very knowledgeable. We found him to be a good and decent man. He cared about the work that was done, and wanted us to be happy with it. The inspector was very familiar with and complimentary of TC Electric's work, which certainly impressed us. Jeremy, the primary electrician on our job, was very careful, neat and unobtrusive. He was polite and always pleasant to have around. His workmanship was excellent. This was a very complex job, involving old, buried wires in the ceilings, walls, attic, installing multiple electrical panels, and less than ideal working conditions (about which he never complained). We know an older house has very unique and often extremely difficult issues. Doing this job required special creative problem-solving ability, intelligence, high skill and aptitude. Jeremy definitely had all of that. We are very happy with the quality of work that was done. Overall, it was a very good experience. We would recommend Twin Cities Electric, and we will hire them again ourselves."

Vitaly (owner) came to my house to see what needed to be done and to offer suggestions.  He was polite and professional.

Viktor came to work on time a few days later to start the demolition. The dumpster was not there the first day so he came back the next day to start. No problem.  Viktor and his helper worked very hard to demolish  the bathroom.  They cleaned up each day before they left.

There was some mold on an adjacent bedroom wall , which was not surprising, since the some of the old bathroom shower tiles were missing.  Vitaly thought that we could find some kind of a solution to get rid of the mold, but  none of the stores had a powerful enough formula to do the job right.  After a  few days, I decided it was best to have that wall removed completely.   Vitaly asked Viktor to give a bid to remove the bedroom wall.  Viktor did not want to take on that job.  Vitaly then gave me a name of a contractor who specializes in mold removal.  I hired that company and in about another week, the mold wall was carefully removed and replaced with another bedroom wall. 

Before the bedroom mold wall was removed, Viktor installed an outside vent cap for the bathroom fan.   There is a small section of roof (approx. 18 inches) with a pitch extending from the side of the house above the bathroom ceiling where the vent roof cap could be placed.

 Viktor installed  a vent cap, but it was the wrong type.  He installed a wall vent cap, not a roof vent cap.  Also, the vent was installed over the shingles and flashing, instead of under them. If left as is, wind and rain  would be able to come into the exhaust pipe or leak under the shingles and enter the bath fan/house.  I notified Vitaly about it.  He called me back and said that they would fix it.  He said that Viktor told him that he had installed that type of vent before.   I said to Vitally that I would remove it and install a new, correct type of vent.

After the bedroom wall was replaced, I decided  that I did not want to use Vitaly's services any more.  I called Viatly and talked to him about the situation and my decision.  He was very polite and listened to what I had to say.  We agreed that it was best to settle on the charges I owed him and move on.    

 I've called Angie's List a few times, since, to talk about the situation.    One of the things that I found from the Angie's List Representative was that Vitaly's company had already been paid by Angie's List.  This surprised me, since I thought a contractor would get paid for a Big Deal only AFTER the work had been done.

  At this point, I want to be sure that Vitaly's company gets paid for the work they did. (they have been paid, amount is unknown) 

  Also, I would like to get a refund for $3700.00     I feel that I owe Vitaly $1300.00 for the work his company did.   My figure includes an adjustment for replacing the bath fan vent and for the extra 5 days the dumpster sat in my yard.

I would appreciate a resolution to this situation so that all 3 parties can move on.  Thank you.

"Paul did a fantastic job. He was easy to work with, cared about our expectations, was creative in his suggestions, and he was very detailed in his workmanship. He also checked in a few times throughout the week to see if we had any questions or had any comments for him.  Our rooms were initially dingy, outdated, and closed in; now we love being in the new updated space!  It's modern, fresh, open, and bright. "The project started at the end of last summer.  I met with Heinen Contracting as well as several other contractors, as this was a really bid deal for us.  Right from the start, Greg gave us some really good advice, and we actually ended up changing the scope of work based on his direction.  We had been planning this garage addition for a long time, but Greg's design was much better than what we originally wanted to do.  It created a better flow from the garage to the house, and saved us a lot of money on materials and labor.  He really knew what he was doing with the permitting, we pulled the permit ourselves, as homeowners, but we wouldn't have been able to do it without all his assistance. His office staff was helpful and always available when we needed advice.  They started in the fall and were really good about keeping the job site clean, even after that first early snow when the mud got really bad.  All of the crew were very professional and respectful of our space and privacy.  The workmanship was top notch.  They continued through the winter, with a lull over the holidays, as we requested.  They got right back to work every day the weather would allow and we were all signed off and ready to use our new garage and additional space early this spring. 
We loved working with Greg. He was very responsive, very professional and most of all he has GREAT ideas and is very creative.  He really knows his industry and it shows in the outcome.  I will definitely call him again when we are ready to tackle another big project.

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."
