"From the initial inspection by the company representative, John Davis, to completion of the work by crew chief Juan Castillo and workers Arturo Saenz and Luciano Valdez, everything proceeded as scheduled and the result was excellent. No surprises. Multiple helical piers were placed to support the foundation. The crew also took care to restore the appearance of the grounds around our house after the piers were placed. I highly recommend AFS for the evaluation of foundation problems."

"We’ve used Jimmy from Coleson Plumbing for years for all of our plumbing projects! Our house was built in 1957 so you can imagine the issues we’ve had over the years. Jimmy and Coleson Plumbing is Honest, Professional, extremely clean, and time after time has always come in at the best price for the job! In the past I would always get stressed calling some random plumber because you are at their mercy like a car mechanic! But, when you call Coleson Plumbing all that anxiety goes away bc they provide quality work for the absolute best price!!!! We have used them for so many different projects in the past because of their attention to detail and quality of work! It’s so refreshing that their are companies such as Coleson Plumbing that still exist today! Jimmy from Coleson Plumbing has replaced all of our Galvanized Pipe with PVC, installed 2 Regulators, replaced our Hot Water Heater with a Tankless Hot water heater and also installed our kitchen and bathroom fixtures and repaired a slow drain we’ve had for the past 10 years that past plumbers could never fix properly! Give him a call or text for an estimate before you go with another plumber and pay thru the roof! You won’t be disappointed!!!"

"Dennis and his team said our pipes appeared to be in good shape and suggested a good cleaning first to see if that would fix our draining problems. They were right and they saved us a lot of $$ and our drain is working fantastic now. I would highly recommend D & G Plumbing for their integrity and quality service! I will absolutely be calling them again for all of my future plumbing needs."

"I had previously bought a deal for an hour of plumbing work and scheduled Cahaba plumbing to come out.  The night before they were to arrive, I discovered that I now had Niagara Falls in my basement garage.  Fortunately, Cahaba plumbing came out the next morning and fixed this major water leak for me.  They allowed me to use my Angie's List deal as a credit/discount towards the repair work I had done.  So not only did they fix my water leak in the nick of time, they were very easy to work with concerning my Angie's List deal.  The plumber didn't try to negotiate or haggle with me, he just told me not to worry and he gave me the full value of the deal off my repair total (which saved me $100).  And the plumber was friendly, competent, and experienced and solved all of my problems in just a short while.  Therefore, I highly recommend Cahaba plumbing.

"It went very well. The 2 men (sorry I don't know their names) that replaced the pump were very professional and knew exactly what to do. They replaced the pump efficiently and explained everything clearly to my husband. They replaced the dirt and it didn't look like anything had been disturbed. On Monday two different men came to pump the septic tank. Again they were very professional and did a great job. They were also very knowledgeable. After they finished they cleaned up our drive-way and put everything back the way it was before. I would highly recommend their service. The pump out cost may have been a bit high, but my husband and I feel their work ethic was worth any extra cost."

"Daniel did a great job on the project. He listened to what I was wanting to do. He provided good feedback on how best to complete the work (materials, process, etc.). We mutually settled in on a plan to do the job. It turned out well and as expected and within a reasonable period of time. He is very conscientious about the project and the care of your home and was a pleasure to work with. I will definitely use him again when I have another plumbing project. I highly recommend him."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Leeds, AL

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
