"Went great - old water heater was leaking on top - the casing was filled with water though none had leaked out onto the floor.  They came the same day I called, lady on phone was very nice and took all the info for the old one - they came with the new one in the van.  Took the old one out and put the new one in complete with new tray liner.  This is a small cottage and the Water Heater is in the bedroom closet. honest, I think it was cleaner after they left then before they came.  They did not leave behind one spec of dirt or water and they had it done fast - I think they were here maybe an hour total, maybe...  It was a man and a boy (teenager) and they were very friendly and pleasant.  These guys are definitely the plumbing company I will use in the future.  Sorry so late on the review...  :)

"Pacific Stone did a nice job. Person in charge of scheduling measurements and installation was pleasant and courteous. Within a few days of my inquiry they came out to my house to take measurements and they brought samples to choose from. Installation was done within a few weeks after that. Took away the old countertops and sinks. They know what they're doing. One of the installers was actually the owner and they were prompt and professional and cleaned up well."

"Walter did a great job.  He came to our house as scheduled. He even called to say he was going to be a little late as another job was taking him longer than planned.  He came on a Saturday at no extra charge on his rates.
I was aware of what was causing the leak and what it would take to repair the leak by checking it on a self repair site on the internet.  I felt the job was a little above my level of expertise so we called a plumber.
Walter did only the work that was required and his price was astonishingly fair.  He is a licensed master plumber (we checked) who is self employed.  He did a great job and I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend his services.

"Very good experience from start to finish with Bob Scammon, owner of A-Plus Roofing. He first estimated the job last year, and we decided to wait. Called Bob again this year to take another look, and even with skyrocketing material prices in the past year, only revised his estimate for the job by $1,015. He was very upfront about what might be extra cost, including re-leading chimneys (quoted a fixed price per chimney) as well as carpentry needed... wood replacement, etc. Was quoted a dollar per hour charge for needed extras plus the price of needed materials. His crew of 5 men arrived every day around 7:30 AM and went right to work. I can't say enough good about the quality and professionalism of his crew. Very hard workers, and very open to talk with me and answer questions that I might have. Several times I even went on the roof with them to ask questions & look around, which was no problem at all for the crew. No issues with blaring radios or foul language -- again, just very hard workers. Bob would usually be on the job site in the morning, but might or might not return later in the day. His presence made no difference in the quality or quantity of their work. Entire job took about 5 1/2 days. Very neat workers. Each day the site was cleaned up & raked. Canvas tarps or drapes were used to protect the house or bushes. We ended up needing two chimneys re-leaded as well as over 640 feet of roof boards replaced due to rot or cracks. Also, found one rotten wooden gutter, which we suspected might be a problem before the job started. Gutter was removed and replaced with trim boards that deleted the gutter entirely. The extras totaled $2,810 over the original estimate of $13,840, which we felt was very fair. Would use A-Plus Roofing again anytime. Start to finish, Bob and his crew were excellent to work with. Based on our experience, you will not be disappointed."

"Required repair to a front dormer , which was one immediately and cost an additional $350.00 that day. Horizontal third floor gutters were cleared of debris, but apparently not the vertical draining pipes. The dormer repair failed within months. I requested n estimate for replacement of the roof, which was provided soon thereafter. I have been in discussion of the cost of the portion of the roof needing repair first, planning to have the second half done early next year. Marshall Home Pros told me that they needed to have a 50% deposit a month ahead, in order to get a permit from the city. Meanwhile, have gotten an estimate from another company, clearly written, asking for somewhat less than the total cited by Marshall. I was told that no permit is needed (angles and height of roof are not going to be changed), and without needing to hold $$ for as long. Deposit proportion is less (not really the issue except that I didn't want $$ held for 30 days or more before work date would even be assured), and readiness to do the work within a shorter period, and within a day with a large crew, to minimize disruption to residents here and nearby. Materials and specs are the same for both estimates. My degree of trust in both is not. I signed with the other company."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Leeds, ME

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
