"It was a Big Deal. It was pretty good. There was only one complaint. When they made a hole in the bathroom, over the sink, we had to make an additional purchase for a faucet to fit in. Other than that I think the job went beautifully. There was some additional fee like some sink. We replaced the sink. The job was okay and they did respond promptly. I think the granite they brought in is of good quality but I am not an expert. It was reasonable."

"Really well! I had them replace all the supply lines to our toilets because 2 out of 3 original lines had leaked/were leaking. They replaced all of them with sturdy, updated lines. The next day one of the toilets needed adjusting because the float valve wasn't set quite right. They came back and cheerfully adjusted it, at no charge. I will definitely use them again."

"We bought our house in 2003, after it had been completely renovated/remodeled.  Every couple of years afterward, whenever we had a strong windstorm, we'd lose some shingles.  The first time, the contractor did the repair.  The problems continued, though, because the roofing sub he used was lousy.  No underlayment at all above the level of the ice/water shield and only an average of three nails per shingle, often not in the right place.
The second time we lost shingles, we called Bob Scammon at A-Plus, based on favorable reviews on Angie's List.  He came right out and fixed the problem for a reasonable price.  We started thinking about whether we should just replace the whole roof and Bob dropped by a few months later, looked everything over and gave us a quote.  It was a reasonable quote and he couldn't have been more responsive to our questions, but we couldn't quite get over the idea of replacing a whole roof that was only, at that point, about four years old.
Skip ahead another couple of years, more windstorm damage (NOT on parts of the roof repaired by A-Plus) and another prompt repair by A-Plus.  I started thinking about metal roofing and Bob showed us a Decra product that is a metal roof that looks like shingles, which we thought would look great on our historic house.  His quote was fair, but the price of that product is just awfully high, so we passed.
Now, 10 years later and another windstorm (the one that came with the super-warm weather a week before Storm Nemo) comes along that really did a number on those 2003 shingles.  I was almost embarrassed to call Bob after he'd come out twice before, taken the time to give us careful quotes and answer our questions and we didn't pull the trigger.  But I did anyway and he was there right away.  We decided enough was enough, got another quote from Bob and asked him to go ahead with replacing the whole roof.  His crew did temporary cover for the damaged areas while we were waiting for the shingles to come in and they got started a few days later.
The crew showed up every morning between 7:45an and 8:00am and got right to work.  They worked fast, but did a thorough and careful job.  They covered the front of the areas where they were working with tarps so that nothing would hit the house or our deck.  They would take a quick half hour for lunch and get right back to the job.  They used high-quality materials and hurricane-nailed the shingles.  At the end of every day they cleaned up the site.  Bob himself usually came to the site daily, sometimes twice, to see how things were going.
I can't say enough about what a good guy Bob is to work with.  He's really concerned about his customers, and is a real people person.  One day when he came by he even pulled our tractor out of the ditch it slid into while we were doing clearing up from Nemo.  At the end of the job, he asked us for $150 more than the quote because he ended up having to buy a little more lead flashing than he'd thought he would.  So that means he did a big job for less than 1% more than his original quote.
His crew is also excellent; polite, hardworking and careful.  They were even nice to our dog, even though she barked at them like crazy every morning when they arrived.
We were so pleased with the work that we're going to have A-Plus come back in the spring and build us a shelter for our pool patio.

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

FAQs for faucets, fixtures and pipes repair or replace projects in Leeds, ME

You can absolutely install an outdoor mixture tap outside your home. An outdoor mixer tap blends hot and cold water before it leaves the spout, giving you a steady temperature for rinsing produce, washing hands, or spraying down patio furniture. As long as a plumber runs both hot and cold supply lines and insulates them against freezing, a mixer outside performs just like the one in your kitchen.

Outdoor faucet handles come in twist, lever, or knob varieties, all designed to stand up to the elements while giving you precise flow control. They’re built from tough materials yet offer the same comfort and ease of use as indoor faucets. Ask your plumber for a selection and for recommendations on the best option for your needs.

Start by pinpointing the leak—often it’s a worn washer, a loose packing nut, or a damaged gasket. If it’s salvageable, replace the faulty part; otherwise, you may need a new faucet. Always turn off the water before starting repairs, and test thoroughly when you’re done to confirm you’ve stopped the leak.

You can protect your outdoor faucets during the winter months by shutting off the water supply to the outdoor faucet before freezing weather arrives and by always disconnecting any attached hoses. You can further safeguard your outdoor faucets against ice by insulating the pipe and installing a basic faucet cover.

An outdoor faucet can last 20 years, though budget models may wear out in 10, and high-end ones can push 30 or more. Proper installation, routine upkeep, and careful use help you get the most life from any spigot. Ask your plumber for maintenance and care recommendations to get the most from your outdoor faucet.

Replacing an outdoor spigot yourself might work if you’re handy, but a professional plumber guarantees code compliance, reduces the risk of water damage, and offers peace of mind. If you’re not sure about soldering or local regulations, it’s best to hire a licensed plumber for a lasting fix that you can feel confident in.
