"Al was very prompt on coming out to give me an estimate. He was very detailed and specific on his prices and how long it would take to do the job. He called me back and gave me an exact time frame for the schedule and confirmed it the week before. He and his son showed up on the first day on time and completed all the work within one week. I felt comfortable leaving him and his son  at the house while i was at work. They did a great job on completing everything i needed, plus cleaned up when they were done. I will sure call Al again if I need any work done. He was very talented and could do any type of house repair you need. He and his son was a pleasure to deal with. thanks Al! <br />"

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"We asked A Plumber to come out and give us an estimate on a difficult plumbing problem caused by improper installation when our home was built. Brian came out the same day and gave us a very fair estimate, considerably less in cost and less troublesome than another plumber had discussed with us. He was able to return the next day for the repair work and did a great job!! All of the staff, from office and scheduling to plumbing, are wonderful to work with! We will stick with A Plumber from now on. Dennis & Renee Little"

"I was frustrated that they didn't cover our garbage disposal and they didn't cover the thermostat, otherwise everything we did there was great. I didn't have any problems. It's $50 a month, and then everything is covered. You don't have to pay for people to come out. When our hot water heater broke, we had to pay for the new water heater, but that just for the actual thing, not anything else like the service or installation."

"The service arrived at our home on time.  The workers are friendly and helpful.  They answered our questions with information that explained the problems which existed and their plan for installation and repair.   The quickly assessed the situation and began working.  Work went quickly and efficiently; no wasted time.  Other plumbers/installers who gave estimates said the work would take 3- 4 hours  Crouch and Son did the work in 2 hours. <br />"

"My plumber recommended using American Leak Detection after he could not find a leak within my house. Scheduling an appointment was easy. They provided service within three days of my initial call.  The Technician (Shane) was professional and <br /> courteous.   He started by locating the water line, which wasn?t easy because the line ran under the patio, backyard, and the garage floor. Once Shane located the line, he applied forced nitrogen and isolated the leak area. The entire process took about an hour. Keep in mind?they don?t fix the leak ? they locate it. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Lexington, AL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
