"Great job by Holliday Concrete. They communicated throughout the project, which was to replace the garage floor, driveway, front steps and sidewalk leading up. Great work, very professional. Clean up at the end was great as well."

"I was very impressed with the service and the quality of work that Rene and his crew did in replacing my patio slab and retaining wall. Before choosing to go with A&D, I got bids from 6 other companies. Rene was by far the most attentive to my vision for the project and willing to go the extra mile to make it perfect and did it for a fair price. Throughout the project, he was great at communicating when they would be here, what the work would involve, and they were always consistent. That's not always a common thing these days with contractors. Rene truly wants his clients to be happy with their project and it shows. I've already gotten several compliments from family and friends on how nice it looks. I will be recommending Rene and his team to everyone I know."

"This was the BEST contractor experience we have ever had, and we have been in this house for over 26 years, so we have had quite a few. Jeremy is very personable, professional, and experienced in the concrete business. He showed up on time to give me an estimate and he was the only one who recognized a potential problem with our I-beam jack post. We felt that his estimate was fair and that he had the best plan for our job, so we hired them. They started our job on the exact day that we agreed to and did exactly what they said they would do. Jeremy even postponed his vacation plans to complete our job (due to a lot of rain that week). Jeremy is right there with his crew every day on the job. They were all very respectful, friendly, talented, and hard workers. I cannot recommend them enough!"

"Paul was professional and responsive. He always made us aware of his project plan, which days he would be on the job, and what he was going to accomplish each day. He was also able to resolve some preexisting poor craftsmanship around a stone window header, and he filled some holes in the brick that had long ago contained some sort of attachments. He was conscientious about matching the new tuck pointing to existing work. We are very happy with the result and highly recommend Paul and his assistant! Price was comparable to another bid. Though, other bidders were reluctant to take on the job as completely as Paul, due to the very narrow spacing of our brick. Paul's solution was to grind out a wider gap for the mortar. Finally, Paul's clean up was great. There was a lot of dust from this job, and Paul was frequently vacuuming and cleaning up. He finished with a hose wash."

"Ed and his crew did a great job replacing our patio and sidewalk. He was prompt with his quote, showed up when he said he would and finished on time. We had planned on a rectangular patio, and Ed suggested a radius corner, radius steps and additional curves to add some flair. The finished product looks great. Very reasonably price as well."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Lexington, MO

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
