"MLELE Enterprises, LLC did a very wonderful job with our patio. Mr. Michael took very good care of us and was very patient with us as we waiting quite some time before finally getting the install. If we ever need any more concrete installs, he will be the one I call. Very thankful for their team to do it quickly as well. 10/10 rating for sure"

"I hired Peace Construction to pour the foundation for my new driveway. The guys with Peace Construction were highly dependable, provided quality work and the price was unbeatable. The owner was very knowledgeable and kept me informed every step of the way. My neighbor admired the work and inquired about this company’s contact information. I would definitely hire them again!"

"Prompt response [within the hour] when I called to get an estimate and if could he take on this project. <br /> He offered options as how best to replace back door brick steps given the tightness of the space when cars were parked [the space allocated to parking and the size of the steps had led the previous owners to install steps which were too narrow plus substandard mortar had been used apparently causing the steps to fall apart].  New steps were the only practical solution since the old steps had been removed and cinder blocks had been used as temporary steps.  He built new steps which had the proper depth and height and increased the overall width of the steps making it safer and easier to enter or exit through the back door.  <br /> All of the foundation vents on the back side of the house were to varying degrees below ground level.  [During the recent floods water used those vents to flood underneath the house.]  Only some of the vents had some sort of brick wall around the vents and those that were there were not high enough to be effective.  He built new protective walls for two vents, he added additional height to four vents, and he built new protective walls for three vents on the end of the house. <br /> There are six front steps and in the fifty or so years of the house much of the mortar has disappeared.  Several bricks on the edges had come loose and three bricks at the top where the wrought iron railing was anchored had come loose.  The railing itself was very "wiggly".  The bottom row of bricks had an area where several bricks had begun to sag.  All of these issues were identified and he repaired and replaced bricks where needed. <br /> The quality of the work reflects on his attention to detail, his skill, and his professionalism.  Very reasonable cost.  He removed all construction debris. <br /> Will we use him in the future?  Absolutely!  We have already agreed on our next project [driveway repair and new walkway to front steps which will begin after the holidays.] <br />"

"Although Fairrington Concrete had not done the foundation preparation in advance of pouring and stamping a large patio (another contractor that had constructed the retaining wall and stone work had agreed to do this for Fairrington), James agreed to come back and break up a 25' by 10' section, remove and dispose of it, and pour and stamp new concrete in it's place. Over 4 working days requiring six workers (on and off) the finished product matched perfectly with the rest of the patio. His expert in concrete stamping, Kevin Brown, is a true artist. My $900 contribution towards this repair represented the portion that was never paid by the other contractor that failed to compact the base foundation. <br /> Bottom line: James Fairrington stands behind his work and will do his best to come back and make repairs on work that later requires some repairs. I highly recommend him for concrete and stamped concrete work. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Lexington, SC

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
