Both were tile setters, working in Florida at the time, when Bryan’s high school best friend, Larry Whitmire, flew to Florida to try convince Bryan to come back to Kansas City where he could work into an equity partnership position with a tile company he knew about. Bryan moved back and worked for the company, but the partnership didn’t pan out as promised. Bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, Bryan chose to pursue the American dream on his own. That’s when Midland Marble and Granite was born.
