"Lone Star Carpets installed all my flooring and shower tiles for multiunit homes in south Austin. My sincere appreciation is well-deserved to Mr. Tony Rodriguez! He is an experienced, well educated, well-informed, a professional and quite personable individual. Tony is the contractor working with my excellent builder, Truitt Group- Mr. Logan Leen. Tony himself was directly involved in the project from the beginning: getting all the necessary measurements, ordering martials, following up with the installation crew, and making the final inspections of the installations. He also left me with the plenty leftover tiles and material for possible future repairs or renovation!! Tony certainly gives his full attention and care one will need during a home construction! Thank you Tony. My appreciations of his installation crew: Mr. David Romero installed almost all flooring and shower tiles. He is efficient and very conservative with material usage, yet installs quality work. He is very hard-working individual and makes sure to get the job done and done wright! Mr. Juan is the crew lead as well as a great installer. He leads the group by example and makes sure all works are done correctly. Mr. Roger is a good installer and seems enjoys his work and is just happy person. I am very pleases with the service and material Lone Star Carpets provided me for all my homes, specially Tony's care and attention to my project. Mehrdad Vatani"

"Extremely well! I am absolutely pleased with the level of service I received. They were running late from a previous appointment and I appreciated that I received a phone call from the office to inform me of this (prior to the scheduled appointment time). Upon their arrival, they were courteous and very professional. I was grateful that they wore "booties" when they entered my home. Before they began the work, they very thoroughly explained their cleaning process. I could not be more pleased. My furniture and rug look awesome! I would recommend Cleantech Carpet Cleaning to anyone in need of upholstery and carpet cleaning."

"They showed up early  each day (3) and started right away they took out the carpet and baseboards and started installing the laminate right away...i was a little concerned about NOT removing the vinyl flooring and that it would look uneven.. but I am not worried anymore .... the floors looks very level and flows very nicely from room to room...all the work they did looks great and very professional..... <br /> my only regret was that I didn't cover the carpet on the stairs. I should have covered them  with plastic or something because they got all dirty with all the dirt and dust that they were exposed to ....but that was my error...you see we never go upstairs with our shoes.....so i can either clean the stairs or use it as an excuse to get the stairs done in laminate too...  <br /> I am very pleased with JJ Flooring....I heard of them through my Aunt, they did her home a few years ago and the floors still look awesome.  <br /> I would HIGHLY recommend this company. <br />"

"Very responsive and willing to work with me on the price of materials.  Labor costs were same/competitive with similar companies.  Installation was a breeze; staff is very professional.  Not a cheap project, but exactly what we wanted and CDC gave the best bid around - by far. <br />"

"We purchased three remnants to cover the concrete floors in our guest room area until we can install the final hardwoods and then bought some carpet from a roll to have stretched and installed in our master because we will be remodeling in a year or so and didn't want to live on concrete until then. We were looking for less expensive carpet to get by on until we put our final hardwoods in but still wanted good carpet that would last. They were more than willing to deal on the price of the carpets -so know that the tagged prices are not their final price for both the remnants and the carpet purchased to size. We paid them for the carpet and had to pay their installer at the time of install (they quoted us the install price at the time of carpet purchase). We took them the floorplan of the master bedroom and closets with all the measurements which included extra square footage in the measurements that were actually part of the counters so that they could calculate how much carpet we needed. When the installer showed up, he told me that we didn't have enough carpet to cover the quoted areas - I don't REALLY know who is at fault but based on what comes next I think the installer was trying to get out of work. The remnants we had bought happened to be the same carpet so we used that to make up the difference in the master bedroom since that was semi-permanent. However, after the install was complete, we were able to use the remnants to completely cover the floor in one guest room (which is what was originally planned for the remnant they cut in half) leading us to belive that there was plenty of carpet in the roll we bought for the master bedroom but they were being lazy in not wanting to piece it together (yes, all the remnants run in one direction so they could have pieced them together in the other room). In addition, the installer showed up without tack strip, even though I told them in the showroom that we had removed EVERYTHING, which delayed the job by 2+ hours. And the final install is terrible! The carpet doesn't even reach all the way to the walls in some places, they did not tack it down in the closets (because they didn't lay padding in the closets- I don't know what happened to that extra!) and they did not finish the seams where it meets our tile - the carpet has just been left flapping in the wind. On top of all this, I was quoted $120 for the install and then the installer told me we owed $135 (maybe for the tack strip they had to go buy at Home Depot?). I do not trust this company to quote an accurate price and provide a quality install."

"CC Carpet In Richardson was the second carpet retailer I visited and at that time, I was given a ballpark figure for the two carpets I was looking at. This was supposedly after they looked up the price for the specific color of carpets. I setup an appointment for my house to be measured and the salesman to whom I talked in the showroom showed up. After measuring the house, he suggested that I should choose the more expensive carpet. I had already done my homework on both carpets and was trying to make an aesthetic choice, so I asked him to tell me the pros and cons of the two carpets. What he told me was totally contrary to the experts advice and when I asked a follow-up question, he admitted that he had only worked for the company for a couple of months. Ultimately, I chose the less expensive carpet then, as he was writing up the order, stated that the color I wanted was special order and that he needed to call and verify the price. To my surprise, there would be an extra $500 for the special order. I made the decision to proceed anyway. The carpet was to be delivered to them on Jan. 22nd and the salesman suggested that we set up a tentative installation date of Jan. 26th. No one called on Jan. 22nd to tell me that the carpet arrived, so I called them on Jan 23rd. Yes, the carpet arrived and I was told that I would receive a call on Jan 25th to confirm the installation. No one called during the day, so I called them at 5:30 pm. I was told that they had left me a message (they didn't) and that the installer would come the next day at 10:00 pm. The installers didn't show up, so finally getting irritated at the lack of communication, I went to the Richardson showroom. The salesman was there and called the main office. He then told me that they were scheduled to arrive between 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. I expressed my frustration with the communications and was that he was sorry and that there was nothing else he could do. The installers showed up at 12:00 noon and worked rapidly. The installers did a nice job, <br />"

"The installers came on time and were very professional.  They pulled up the old carpet and hauled it off and did a great job of putting down a new laminate floor and cleaning up afterward. They also helped with moving the furniture. The job was reasonably <br /> priced and we are very happy with the result. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lockhart, TX

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
