"Bob and his crew were very professional, and I’m very pleased with my new driveway. They were very respectful of my lawn and left everything in good order. They paid close attention to the areas where the asphalt joined my existing concrete and stone planter."

"They were not the cheapest, but after completion I was extremely pleased with their detail to schedule, help, follow up, clean up, and overall appearance of big driveway. They had a driver who was great on getting old asphalt, came the next morning and finished. I highly recommend this company. Very courteous and friendly!!"

"They removed old asphalt and redid the driveway. They showed timely and worked very efficiently. Bob, the sales person for our work, showed up before the crew so he could make sure they knew the details we had discussed. I thought that was a good sign."

"In October of 2014, I called Brad Kirch to get a quote for landscaping our soggy yard to improve drainage. Brad explained how to build a slope, and thoroughly explained all of the details, at my request. We would have happily hired Brad at that time, but Brad was booked. Brad encouraged our family to tackle this job our self because it was straightforward. And he was right. We did the work ourselves. It was inexpensive and uncomplicated. Brad was great at both listening and advising. I'd hire him for any professional landscaping we might want done in the future."

"We hired this company because the came in with the low bid among several highly regarded landscape companies that we interviewed. In retrospect, we really regret this decision.  <br /> First, the small stuff. After they seeded the lawn, wind blew much of the seeds into the mulch beds where the grass grew much better than it did where it was supposed to grow. It's been a couple of growing seasons and our grass hasn't fully taken off, largely because I suspect they didn't use enough top soil. It would have been nice if they had checked back with us to see whether the seeding was successful.  <br /> Many of the shrubs that they planted have failed (some were replaced under warranty). Again, I suspect inadequate topsoil is at least partly to blame.  <br /> The garden trellis that they built initially was flimsy, collapsed and had to be replaced.  <br /> Finally, they built a large patio out of pavers. This project was a substantial investment on our part. Within a year, the patio collapsed into a hole. When they came out to look at the job, they claimed that there must be some issue below the surface and thus was not their fault. They then presented us with a large estimate for repairing the patio. Because we were dissatisfied with their services all around, we sought alternative bids for fixing the project and went with a different company to repair it. During the repairs, the entire patio had to be excavated and we found evidence that the base underneath the patio had not been properly compacted (as required by the paver company). Moreover, there is other evidence that the patio was improperly installed in terms of the sand that was put in between the pavers. That sand began washing away shortly after installation and will take several thousand dollars to redo.  <br /> So, it was bad enough that our project had so many failures, some of which have involved very expensive fixes, but what was most disappointing was the unsympathetic and utterly unhelpful response on the part of Herman Landscaping. <br />"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Lodi, WI

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
