"Kelvin, the contractor, was very congenial and willing to work with me on some special concerns I had with my driveway replacement. His price was more than fair and when time came for work his crew worked hard and handled the concrete pour with obvious expertise. I appreciated their attention to detail and desire for a 'good' job they could be proud of."

"Mark and his office manager Anne were great. Mark was very detailed with what the entire process would entail and thoroughly answered all of my questions. I received quotes A-1 Concrete, Ohio Basement Authority, and Mark Rogers Construction and am very glad that I went with Mark. I have already recommended them to several friends who are looking to have the same, or similar, work done. Pictures are after garage (before), Day 1, and then what it looks like now. In the "before" picture, you can see how damaged the apron is, as well as the cracking and sinking inside the garage."

"I needed to replace my front brick steps from Brick to Concrete. We have been running into loose bricks, pretty much after each winter, to the extent that I was concerned about safety of visitors (my brother-in-law fell on a loose brick). Chris and crew showed up on time (like 1 min early!). And they did a great job taking all the bricks out and pouring concrete instead to give us a peace of mind and a good looking concrete steps. Throughout the process, Chris explained to me what is going on in detail and answered all my questions. I probably asked him the same question a few times and he patiently answered my questions. Chris is a master mason with specialty in concrete. He knows what he is doing and does it well. He is humorous, generous and a gentleman. Chris (personally) spent a lot of time power washing other areas of my pavers even though that was not part of the deal. I offered to pay him for it but he refused and said "I just want the place to look gorgeous when I leave. I highly recommend Chris and his team for any concrete / cement work."

"Due to inclement weather, the project was delayed a week while waiting for the ground to dry enough so he to use his Bobcat to bring the concrete into my backyard. However, the weather did not cooperate, so the following week Mr. Haning decided to wheelbarrow the concrete instead of postponing the project any longer.  He was punctual and professional and did a magnificent job. <br />"

"We started this project back in late 2014 by researching local driveway repair outfits, and Midwest Masonry was one of the vendors we contacted.  Max McLellan (owner of Midwest Masonry) came out to the house, looked the situation over, and gave us an estimate based on the square footage to be replaced.  During this visit Max answered all our questions and seemed to be very knowledgeable about the work to be done.  Hew was not at all worried about the challenges presented by the high retaining walls; he explained that other than the logistical challenge of getting the old concrete out and the new concrete in, the retaining walls would not be a problem. <br /> Due to our experiences with water pooling on our current driveway, I was very concerned about getting the drainage right.  Because of the retaining walls, all water must be moved down a long drainage pipe to the street.   However, I didn't want a lot of slope because I also use this part of the driveway as a basketball court.  Max looked the situation over and came up with a good plan that addressed all my concerns.  The existing driveway incorporated a poured concrete wheelchair access ramp for our front door, and Max came up with a plan to not only replace the ramp, but to improve the layout and drainage in the process. <br /> Max's estimate was reasonable, and explicitly covered demolition and concrete removal, pouring of the new concrete, and applying a brush finish and a coat of sealer at the end. <br /> We had the normal scheduling problems and delays, some due to Max and/or the weather, and some due to us.  Concrete driveway work is not something that EVER goes according to schedule!  However, when our schedules and the weather aligned, Max and his crew showed up and worked hard and efficiently.  It took 1-3 days to get all the old concrete out and gone, and then another couple of days for prep work before any concrete pouring could begin.  The replacement was done in three separate pours spaced out over a week or so (again, the weather and Max other commitments caused some delays, but that's just the way it goes).   <br /> The last pour was completed a couple of days ago, and the final sealing coat was put on yesterday.  The finished driveway looks great, drains great, and the wheelchair access ramp layout is MUCH better than the old one.   <br /> One of the unexpected benefits of working with an established outfit like Midwest Masonry was the way they protected our existing driveway section from damage while getting material in and out of the work area.  The first thing Max did was to lay down 4 x 8' sheets of 3/4" plywood all the way from the work area to the road - a distance of about 150'.   I would never have thought of this touch, and our existing driveway would surely have been damaged without the protective plywood.   <br /> We are now waiting out the 2 week no-drive period while the concrete cures, but we are VERY happy with the results.  We would certainly use Midwest Masonry again if the need arises, and would recommend them to anyone. <br />"

"I'm very pleased. I had concerns about dust and fumes from the epoxy. The dust was minimal and fumes were not an issue at all. If I had to do it all over again, I'd set up a box fan with filters, as I've seen on YouTube, but even without that, the dust was not overwhelming. The workers arrived on time, explained what they were going to do and welcomed my checking in on them. When they went to lunch, they cleaned up their work area, (even put the toilet seat down in the basement bathroom), something I didn't expect at all. I had questions when they were at lunch, and the salesman got the answers I needed quickly. A couple of things I would change about this process: 1. After they were done, cleaned the area for the day, and put their equipment away, one of the workers invited me downstairs to approve their work. If I had not approved, it was a bit late for me to object as they were packed and ready to go. I suggest in the future the homeowner be asked for their approval before everything's packed up. Their work looked good, but this seemed like a manipulative tactic that wasn't appreciated. 2. The more experienced of the two workers explained early on that he needed to remove some insulation but assured me he'd put it back when he was done. When I saw that he'd not put it back, I mentioned it. He refused to put it back, saying "It doesn't matter". It was an odd way to end a perfect job up to that point. I was totally pleased with how everything was handled, and then that comment and behavior from him just put a bad taste in my mouth. That evening or the next day, I received a very nice gift from the company that was just a really nice touch. A couple of weeks later, we had heavy rains and I experienced water along the walls where the work was done. Within a week of me raising the concern, an arrangement for a technician to visit my home was made. I appreciate their prompt attention to the matter. I expect it's very simple like needing more epoxy at the base of the straps, so I decided to go ahead and submit this review. It's difficult to find trustworthy people to do work in your home. I'm very relieved I found a company that is totally worthy of that trust and highly recommend Acculevel. The work they did looks good and solid."

"Workmen arrived on specified date and time. Ripped out asphalt drive. Set forms. Added & compacted fill. Poured 5" of concrete. Smoothed and brush finished. Returned 2 days later to do the cut-ins and fill in sides with topsoil where forms were removed. They worked hard all day. Knew what they were doing. Removed their debris; kept entire area neat & tidy. Placed cones and yellow tape across driveway so no one would get on it for a week. They are to return in a month to add a finish. <br />"

"A "one man crew" came to my house to seal the driveway. I had to leave to run an errand. I came back home about an hour and a half later. The driveway was done, and the rope was across the end of it. Later in the afternoon, another crew came out to seal the driveway (!). I asked them why since the other man did it earlier. The second gentleman informed me that the first person only put down one layer, and they were coming to do the second layer. I would have not known that the job was incomplete! I truly appreciate the honesty and the good work. The driveway looks great!"

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in London, OH

Polished concrete floors offer many benefits with very few drawbacks. While issues like discoloration, stains, or imprints may occur during pouring, these are rare when working with a skilled flooring contractor. Once polished, concrete floors are easy to maintain, long-lasting, and eco-friendly. They also resist mold and moisture, making them ideal for allergy-prone households, and offer versatile design options for both indoor and outdoor use.

Polished concrete flooring is often more affordable than tile. It involves lower material costs and less labor-intensive installation. Tile installations require additional leveling and preparation, which increases labor costs. Opting for concrete flooring helps reduce upfront expenses and provides a durable, stylish finish that saves money over time with minimal maintenance.

While epoxy flooring offers enhanced durability and toughness compared to polished concrete, it comes with higher material and labor costs. If budget is a top priority, polished concrete floors provide a resilient and attractive finish without the premium price tag, making them an ideal choice for value and long-term performance.

Polished concrete floors last 20 years or more when installed by licensed professionals and maintained with proper care. Their enduring finish withstands heavy use and remains visually impressive for decades. Regular deep cleaning and maintenance help safeguard the floor’s integrity, providing homeowners with a long-lasting, cost‐effective solution that endures daily wear without compromising style.

Polished concrete floors increase home value by offering a modern, sleek appearance and exceptional durability. A professionally installed floor not only enhances visual appeal but also minimizes maintenance expenses, making the property more attractive to prospective buyers. This flooring upgrade delivers a refined look while boosting overall market competitiveness and long-term property value.
