The timing and shape of the damage helped separate it from ordinary installation buckling. Surface temperatures were documented during the period when the reflection crossed the wall. Replacing the affected siding with the same vinyl could have led to another failure. The owner selected fiber-cement lap siding for that limited elevation, using trim to create an intentional transition from the remaining vinyl. The distorted panels were removed, and the sheathing and weather barrier underneath were found undamaged. Furring created a drainage space and proper fastening base for the new material. Bill Taylor arrived on time on 10/13/18 to provide a free estimate for the roof removal and replacement. He explained the entire job in detail and was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. In addition to roof replacement, the chimney needed a new crown and regrouting. Also new gutters needed to be installed. I had received a call from their office staff to schedule installation date and expected time of arrival. The crew and material arrived 7:00AM as expected and work started immediately.
