"This company knows what it’s doing. I called Mighty Clean and Linda provided estimate, arranged date. Kevin arrived on time, measured, provided actual cost (close to estimate), completed work in 2 hours (again as estimated), and left me with a “like-new” carpeted rec room and a sparkling modular sofa. I definitely recommend this company and will use them again."

"Used Angie's List coupon. Worth the drive to Laurel from Owings Mills. Owner himself came out to measure and give estimate. Please keep in mind that if you have, say, a 1000 square foot space to cover and there a number of rooms and closets and hallways and zigs and zags that add up to 1,000 square feet and the price is $1.00 per square foot, your cost will not be $1,000. Carpet is sold and installed by the roll, which maybe 12 or 15 feet wide. If there are a lot of corners and things to cut out and around then you will pay for that waste. I ended up with several seams (which are invisible) because the owner when measuring and determining the estimate used a more economical method in terms of material required, but it meant a little more work for the installers and saved me money. The installers themselves were punctual and efficient. Installing carpet is hard work. As mentioned there were a couple more seams with my installation but they were handled well and wouldn't be noticed even if they were pointed out. The carpet was a low level Mohawk product, but so far I have less than no complaints. It looks great and definitely will add value to my condo. I would not hesitate to use PriceCo for any future flooring needs."

"I hate to admit that I had called Empire first but I'm so glad I didn't go with them and ended up using Woodbridge Carpet Supply instead. Empire was supposed to come one day and they never showed up. I scheduled another appointment with them the following day and although the man seemed nice enough, he was impersonal and I felt like he was more worried about getting the job and upselling the carpet type versus what I actually wanted costing a whopping $1,000. I was in a panic because I needed this job done as soon as possible so I called Woodbridge Carpet for a second opinion and right away Walter answered and told me he could come in that afternoon to give me a quote. Talk about great availability and customer service! Thankfully Walter was just as nice, professional, and accommodating in person as he was on the phone. He was extremely thorough with taking down the measurements with a tape measure which seemed more personal and detailed than the Empire man's laser measure. He asked questions about the job so he could figure out how best to get the job I wanted, accomplished. At the last minute I asked him if he would be able to give me another quote for a hallway-carpet replacement in the future and he was more than happy to. What a nice guy! The quote for the room actually ended up being almost half of what Empire was going to charge. I wasn't able to be there during the actual installation of the carpet but I heard nothing but great things about the crew that did the job- careful, precise, efficient. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the service and the product I received from this company. I would definitely hire them in the future (hallway replacement remember?!). I feel like a fool for calling Empire first but the silver lining there is that I found Woodbridge Carpet Supply instead. They're a Mom & Pop store but there's a reason they've been in business as long as they have. They're wonderful."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lorton, VA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
