"Jose from A1 Custom Concrete came out to do the estimate within 24 hours, was very professional, and communicated very well throughout the process. The job was started approximately one week later and was completed in 2 days, just as he stated in the beginning. His price was substantially lower than the other company we were seriously considering, and all the men on his crew were professional and hard working. As a former business owner, I was highly impressed and highly recommend A1 Custom Concrete."

"These folks did an excellent job and a good price.  They also were extremely responsive vs all of the other contractors I asked for quotes on the job. <br /> I had about 3 sections of concrete in my driveway that had been damaged by tree roots.  Mr. Williams and his team removed by hand the old concrete as well as the roots that were causing the damage.  They did all of this work and poured the concrete the same day. In addition, we had them pour a small concrete pad next to our sea wall, which also looks good. <br /> I would recommend them to anyone needing concrete repair or work. <br />"

"We are pleased to recommend Triangle Reconstruction with our highest praise. It seems too simple to say that they do what they said they’d do, but that’s exactly what happened. Our home is around 50 years old. Ours was a large job - around a month and $30,000. We had Triangle Reconstruction come in after another moisture company provided mold remediation and a humidifier. I wish we’d contacted TR to start with. We provided TR with a structural engineering report. They created a plan to exactly meet all of engineer’s concerns. TR used temporary supports and replaced seal plates, girders, and joists for over half of our home. In addition, they poured footers and built new columns. They also added a few additional girders to firm up our floors. They removed and replaced our insulation. They sealed our porch and crawl space, replaced our vapor barrier, and installed a moisture meter. They wrapped our electrical cords and hung them. The people at TR are remarkable. A+++++"

"I think his name was Bo.  He was right on time in a clearly marked company car and a uniform.  He introduced himself and asked about my concerns.  I showed him all of my concerns and he did a complete inspection of my foundation including a 360 degree walk around as well as 100% of the crawlspace.  The entire time he was explaining what he was looking for.  The final conclusion was that the drywall cracks were not a foundation issue just typical settlement/construction on the "long" walls of the house.  he noticed a place where water pools close to the house and suggested I get that fixed to prevent damage in the future.  With the 100% free inspection done he was on his way and I was relieved not to have a bigger issue, and pleased with the service provided. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Lumberton, NC

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
