"Greg and his team provided a great quote for a poured concrete driveway and stamped concrete patio well below other quotes we received. He was very responsive as to the work dates due to rain and the job was done quickly. Greg was able resolve an issue with the concrete color and we get compliments from all our neighbors on how great the job looks."

"Mitch, the owner came out and discussed ideas and had many pictures of his work. I appreciated how he worked around my schedule and was always on time.  <br /> He helped with the layout, design and color ideas of the paver blocks. His crew came in and removed the existing concrete patio and dug and prepped the foundation for the new patio. We also had him construct a gas fire pit as well. The fire pit required that a gas line and upgraded gas meter be installed as well. Mitch took the lead on these task as well and coordinated the contractors and efforts required. All the work was detailed and finished on schedule.  <br /> The professionalism of Mitch and his crew were a breath of fresh air in today's world of poor contractors.   <br /> We are very happy with the results."

"Thom did outstanding work and was very professional. This was the second time Thom has done work for me and I would use him again for any brick or concrete repairs. I highly recommend him."

"CLI-Concrete Leveling Inc. called the day before the work was to be remind me of the time they would begin. We came out on time and adjusted the slabs. Professional work cleaned up after the work was done. And completed the project faster than expected."

"Right from the start everything went like "clockwork". Communications and scheduling were timely and accurate. Marsha kept us informed every step of the way. The estimate for the job was fair and reasonable and we signed on and scheduled the job. Showing up on time, communicating necessary information such as delivery of supplies and job scheduling are important. They followed through perfectly. The job was done in one day, the crew was professional, experienced and very clean. We are delighted with our new patio and we do not hesitate to recommend Exotic Pavers to anyone. So, do yourself a big favor, call them for an estimate...you'll be very glad you did!!"

"Quotes requested from 3 Angie's List contractors with 2 very quick responses. Allied's quote was the lower by about 16% (and both quote specifications were identical). Communication with Allied was excellent and the job progressed as scheduled. Timeline: one day to remove the old driveway and a second day to prep and install the new asphalt paving. Very neat job, good cleanup and no paving spilled over onto adjacent lawn, sidewalks or garage concrete floor. No damage to irrigation heads located very close to the driveway (it probably didn't hurt that I flagged those heads before demo and installation). The result is a very nice, appropriately graded driveway with a crack and pothole-free surface. <br />"

"One screw type pier installed. 2 workers hand dug hole below bottom of foundation. Cleaned out under foundation for platform. Although foundation was deeper than I thought, the hole was done much better and quicker than I envisioned. Pier was screwed at bottom of hole with a hydraulic motor. Once limit on hydraulic pressure was reached, the pier was cut at proper level, platform installed, and cracked section of foundation was raised with a hydraulic jack. Crack in stonework closed up nicely without going too far and creating additional cracks. Workers had 5 and 15 years experience doing this work. Very professional and did a very nice job every step of the way. Note that I (homeowner) chose to move and reinstall landscaping stones and gutter drain. Also, tuckpointing/repairing the cracks was not included in the quote. I plan to do that myself at a later date."

"Gary was on top of the job from start to finish. I've never seen someone who sweats the details the way he did. That's good because I learned that pouring a concrete driveway isn't simple. There are many important steps that go into good design in order to have a driveway that drains properly, looks great and can stand up to weather. We got all of that with Gary. His work was outstanding and we now have a beautiful new driveway that has increased the value of our home. It was a major investment but I wouldn't try to save money and risk getting some shoddy work from the lowest bidder. Gary is someone you can trust to give you a fair price and do the job right."

We have been in the foundation, waterproofing, and drain tile business since 1961. Our other business- 'Tri State Concrete" has been installing foundations for over 50 years. Warm and Dry, LTD was started on our 51st year to provide professional basement and crawlspace waterproofing and repairs. We came to see a real need for top quality repair work for homeowners that have problems with their foundations. There are a lot of companies out there doing really shady work. We have re-repaired so many jobs that other companies have already done, which is why we decided to start this business and do it right.

"I was prepared for an excellent experience based on these Angie's List reviews, but unfortunately was disappointed. The actual work performed was good and appears correctly done. Taylor is personable and knowledgeable, and the crew members I interacted with were nice, but I'm not happy that three days after the time promised (and two unanswered phone messages), there is still a ladder, large containers of sealant, various small tools, and a bag of garbage sitting on our lawn. These were left when they finished the job Friday; we knew the patio sealant needed 24 hours to dry, so Taylor asked if they could pick it up Saturday. Fine -- but Saturday came and went, and a call I made Sunday wasn't returned. My husband and I ended up moving all the patio furniture, grill, plants, etc back to the patio ourselves; we should not have had to do this. I'm glad now that we did, otherwise it would all still be piled up on the lawn. <br /> The job cost was in line with what I expected. I was bothered, however, that after paying a deposit, with the balance due upon completion, Taylor asked for payment in full just days later, before the job was finished. I expect that as a small business, cash flow and employee paychecks can be tricky to balance, but it didn't sit well with me. My husband agreed to it, though, and Taylor showed up first thing Friday morning to get it. He and the crew didn't come back to start work until after 11 am that day; I was told there had been an emergency on another job. <br /> I say that I would work with the company again, because I do think the work was of good quality and the price was fair. But I would do so knowing that I'd have to be more 'demanding' and right on top of things. I'm pleased to see a younger generation passionate about an important trade that requires both knowledge and craftsmanship, but the company's customer service and responsiveness wasn't up to par on this job. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Luna Pier, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
