"Not only did the work we requested turn out great (especially since it required some creativity), but after the installation we were sent pictures of how it turned out, which was very helpful since we live out of state. He also suggested that the old soffits and gutters needed cleaning since the contrast with the new clean ones showed the dirt more. He offered to do that work also and was able to fit us in quickly for it. We were kept in the loop throughout every stage of the process and all work was done thoroughly and professionally."

"He replaced a rotten piece of wood on a large window. He also used his superior knowledge to insulate under the window before replacing with new wood. He lacquered the wood and cut it it a perfect match. He did a beautiful job! A new window would have been many thousands of dollars. I am delighted he had the knowledge and confidence to tackle this project. He was extremely punctual and professional. I would consider him a woodworker for other projects in the future. <br />"

"In all of my encounters with Dustin, he was very professional, friendly, and easy to get hold of.  He was always punctual, showed up on time, and when he said he would.  When he was on the job, he was always working, and never loitered.  He finished on time, on budget, and was up front about what was necessary to do, and tried to save me money where he could.  He was very accommodating to my very curious daughter, and after he replaced the garage door, he was even kind enough to have the new knob rekeyed so I would not have to do it.  I also had a few baseboards that I needed to install from an unfinished personal project, and he did that for me at no charge. <br />      When you hire Dustin, he is the person that will be on site doing the work, and so if you have any concerns or issues, he will <br /> be there to answer.  This was the first time I had to hire a contractor, and was nervous about it.  However, Dustin really did a great job, and in fact I have hired him to do some more work.  I would highly recommend him. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"We had removed a large picture window in our sunroom that was leaking on the inside and decided to fill in the hole with a wall. Our "amateur" drywall didn't look too good, so I looked up companies on Angie's List to redo the drywall, tape and mud the wall.  When we called Ken Carmen, he was able to come in to give us an estimate within a day or two. He was very professional and obviously knew what he was talking about. It took us a few weeks to decide to start the project and he was able to start soon after we told him we were ready. It took several visits since several layers of tape and mud needs to be used and  needs to dry well in between the layers. The only complaint that I would have would be on some visits I wasn't sure what time he was coming and I wanted to make sure I was home to let him in. But to be fair he was communicating with my husband who would tell me, so it is hard to know where the communication was lacking :) When the job was completed, the wall was flawless. I cannot see any evidence that drywall was inserted in the middle of our wall, it is completely smooth.   I was very impressed and very happy that we didn't do it ourselves. The bill ended up being less than his estimate, which is always a pleasant surprise. I will definately call him when it's time for our next project! <br />"

FAQs for handyman service projects in Lyle, MN

Winterizing shields your home’s structure and key systems from snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. By sealing drafts and tuning up heaters, you cut energy waste, extend the life of appliances and windows, and avoid surprise repair bills. A small up-front investment keeps rooms cozy and protects the value of your biggest asset all winter long.

Yes, it’s important to prepare your sprinkler system for the winter. Blowing out the lines and insulating above-ground parts keeps valves and pipes from splitting when temperatures drop. A quick winterization visit costs far less than repairing burst components in spring, and it ensures your lawn--and your wallet--stay in good shape once the thaw hits.

A full home winterization plan goes beyond sealing windows and pipes. You might schedule a home energy audit, cover outdoor furniture, service the snowblower, swap smoke-detector batteries, add outlet gaskets, and hang storm doors. Each step beefs up your home’s protection, cuts drafts, and lowers the chance of costly cold-weather damage.
