"Chapman builders LLC. Mr. Chapman himself is great asset to himself and the company. Mr. Chapman installed recessed lighting all around my house and did a very great and efficient job. Mr. Chapman also gave me advice on what would be better for the future of the home and as well as being very knowledgeable with working with electricity and was also very proficient. Mr. Chapman also showed me various different ways we could have done things and he said that “I wouldn’t do it in my own home if it wasn’t safe and wouldn’t fail and making sure it’s to code. I would definitely recommend hiring Mr. Chapman due to his knowledge, skillfulness, being very friendly as well and straight to the point as a contractor. - FIVE STARS - END OF REVIEW -"

These under cabinet lights are smart controlled, able to be turned on and off and dimmed via the app. Also color changing, and really makes the countertop stand out!
This master closet is beautiful! I'm glad I was given the opportunity to add the lighting in here!
Here is an example of a new 200 amp panel planned to allow upgrades. Extra spaces and all required breakers are GFCI and AFCi protected per 2023 NEC code. Now this home owner will not have to worry about their electrical being unsafe!

"JLC contacted me immediately and came out quickly to scope out the job and provide an estimate. Jim seems like an experienced and knowledgeable electrician. I hired him to do the work but was not happy with the workmanship in the end. Jim and his helper made an unnecessary hole in my drywall while installing a new receptacle, then did a bad job patching it. I ended up having to fix it myself. Also they did not recess a quad receptacle in my workspace as I had requested. Had to have them return to fix that too, as well as replace an oversized exterior GFI outlet they installed on the siding. I accept responsibility for that one, as I feel we did not have clear communication about my expectations. They were responsive when I called to complain about the work, and came out to fix everything quickly. I know Jim was not happy, but he remained professional and did what I asked. At the 2nd visit, I paid the low end of the estimate and told them to bill me for the rest, but they never did."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Madison, NH

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
