"John arrived on-time with his radon tech. Gave a thorough inspection and was very friendly and helpful. He wanted to ensure any questions I had as a potential buyer were answered about the home, and gave tips on general maintenance should I move forward with the purchase. He was very professional, and engaging. It made the multi-hour inspection useful and interesting. Would highly recommend. Especially considering the great price."

"John was very easy to schedule with, using a scheduling service that is available even over the weekends. He confirmed within 24 hours directly and was very punctual for the appointment. I had originally requested a home inspection plus a foundation certification, but John explained to me that I likely didn't need the certification and saved me significant money. He added that if it turned out I did need one, he could easily provide it based on his notes from the home inspection so it wouldn't need to be another appointment. John was patient in explaining things and was efficient. I would recommend John for general home inspection and foundation assessments. <br />"

"Steve arrived a few minutes early, talked about what he would and would not be looking at, basically he looked at anything he could inspect without completely taking things apart (he did take access panels off, just advised that he wouldn't be breaking into walls). He didn't mind that I walked through with him and asked questions. He was very thorough and found a few things that while not deal-breakers, where things I definitely wanted resolved by the seller. He was professional and courteous and obviously has a good deal of experience. His report was thorough and quick, he gave me a hand written copy upon completion, e-mailed typed copy later that night (to me and my Realtor). <br /> Since the Radon test requires 48 hours, I didn't get that the same day, but he emailed the results shortly after he picked up the test device and got them himself. He also left a contact card and notes explaining the Radon test to the seller near the unit in the basement, as well as on the dining room table and on each door leading out of the house. <br /> I would definitely use him again! <br />"

"Sandor and his team are wonderful.  We recently purchased an older home with a spanish tile roof.  Sandor and his employee Levi were excellent in providing an explanation of the roof system and what needed to be done to address the issues.   <br /> Sandor was especially patient in regards to dealing with the home warranty company that covered part of the work.  I would highly recommend Sandor and his team.  Excellent work.  Thank you! <br />"

"David was friendly, punctual, very thorough and made me feel comfortable during a stressful time. He explained everything, took his time and did what he said he was going to do, which is a big thing for me and the inspection report was emailed to us the same day. In a short time frame that we had for the inspection he called me the same day and was out within 2 days. Other inspectors took 2+ days to call back and had to get another inspector to do radon inspection. He did it all. Thank you so much, David!"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Madison, OH

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
