"Very pleased. First, Joseph gave good advice regarding the repairs - an approach I hadn't thought of. Work was done to my satisfaction. He was on time, cleaned up as he went and was very professional and pleasant to work with. Have hired for another job."

"Thomas M was an excellent technician and did great work fixing all the basement windows around the house. These windows are difficult to find a replacement but he was able to repair and repaint them. The other technician was Pablo He worked on caulking all the windows around the house and he did some filling work on the garage sliding doors You did a good job, but Pablo left his trash around and didn’t pick up after himself so Thomas M and I did that on the third day. It took three days total, but it was two men for two days and one man for a 3/4 of a day actually. Although I’ll probably get charged for a full day, since it went past noon. The labor portion is the most expensive and a little higher than I initially anticipated. So, I was hoping for a quicker turnaround, but overall quality work was completed. I would highly recommend Thomas M as a technician to do future work. He’s very knowledgeable, friendly and does a great job. I would hire again but include more details in the contract language."

"KF was phenomenal. They responded to my inquiry promptly and provided the products and services exactly as advertised. Kelvin is a true professional who made sure he understood what my needs were before he quoted me a price and agreed to the work. They arrived on time and Gilmer began work immediately. The removal of the old garage parts and accessories went smoothly and Gilmer explained everything he was doing and provided information on what went wrong with the old garage system. As he went to install the new garage system he also walked me through what he was installing and how it's all connected to the system. I felt comfortable with the entire process. Long story short, the door is amazing and everything works great. The company even went so far as to notice a small discrepancy with the rod and volunteered to replace it the next day. This is a true testament to their workmanship guarantee and stellar attention to the smallest of details. I would definitely hire them again and I strongly recommend KF (Kelvin and Gilmer) for your garage and/or home improvement needs."

"We are renovating an old home in the city. We have a very narrow street and alley so we could not get a dumpster in our yard or on the street. Rodney's crew came in and removed about 2 dumpsters worth a trash. He is very nice and quick to do the work."

"Overall fine, but I do think $234/window to be expensive considering the work required and the focus on extreme expediency.
Great responsiveness for setting up appointment to look over project for estimate. Punctual for appointment. A little less punctual in getting estimate to me and two big issues with invoices: asked for clarification/editing of first estimate invoice, which included work details that had to be adjusted. He accidentally sent me the same invoice instead of the edited invoice. I never actually got the edited invoice before the work started. Second problem is that the post-work invoice billed me the wrong (too high) amount -- had I not double checked the amount of my deposit, I would have overpaid.
Paid a deposit to reserve a date in late spring. Bad weather derailed another project (not mine), so on scheduled date, Tony had to cancel. Not a problem. Summer heat and humidity set in, so we decided to wait until cooler weather to do project for better results. Tony offered to refund the deposit.
Comments on day of work/on work:
- I had asked upon receiving the estimate whether the project would span two days (I figured it takes time for primer to dry). Tony replied that they would try to complete in one day. So I definitely did not expect the entire project to be done in 2.5 hours (crew of 4), which created a few issues for me (read on).
- Crew arrived and started working without even meeting me (they were supposed to arrive at 7, but were 25 minutes late and by that time, my toddler had woken up and I'd gone back inside); I wanted to go over a few work details. This I couldn't do sufficiently because of the awake toddler, then, by the time I got back from dropping her off at daycare (9:30), they were almost done.
- I would have appreciated knowing that such a large crew for such a small project would come, so I could have decided whether I wanted the painting done in what was essentially 1.5 hours (after subtracting time to set up ladders, scrape old paint, and clean up). Even if a paint is designed to be quick-drying, I find it hard to comprehend how a water-based paint can dry so quickly. I asked Tony about this afterwards and he said that the brand of primer they use dries in 30 minutes. I guess time will tell whether the paint job lasts.
- More on my comment above on "extreme expediency": window sashes were not opened or moved to scrape or paint beyond any exterior surface that is not immediately accessible, even if that meant that opening the window later would reveal areas not worked on. Even on the one casement window, for which there's easy access to the margin of the window door that sits behind the window frame, this margin was not scraped or painted until I inspected and asked. They would not have waited for the single top coat of paint to dry to ensure the window was not painted shut/could operate. I had to ask. I also had to ask for them to leave the painted windows slightly open; then make sure they could move and close when dry. I doubt the top coat was dry before the security gates were reinstalled (the tech sheet for the paint used says it needs to dry overnight), so if I ever need to take them off... in my experience, this causes the paint to rip off with the "foot" of the "furniture" that is in contact (under pressure from the screw) with the paint.
- Crew was very kind and helpful. I asked for two small (each took about 5 minutes) favors: help putting a window screen back in on a different window not part of the project (required a ladder and someone on the outside, while I latched from the inside) and caulking around a loose ceiling light housing inside my living room. They were great and happy to help.
- One thing Tony and I agreed upon before the work was that I could get some extra primer from the crew (apparently, painters are required to leave behind to the customer only the paint can of the topcoats, not the primer). They left while I was on a work call (again, did not plan for the work to be done so fast), so Tony had to come by special to drop off some primer, which was very nice."
