"Hello. Ika the owner of the company called me back and gave me a quote on the phone. His manner was extremely patient & professional. . He quoted me over the phone but than came to my place UPPER EAST SIDE . To see my hard wood floors , I wanted to cover them with vinyl lock in slats . I also needed bathroom grouted and patch work behind my fridge . His price was fair and affordable. I said let’s do it. While waiting for my tiles to come my cousin who was a master carpenter found out I was doing this and said he would come and do it which he did some other work in my house for free because he’s my family. I couldn’t resist the family price which was free because I’m on a budget so I took it. I had to cancel Ika, but I will definitely be using him in the future and recommending him."

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired 3A to create the opening for our staircase to be installed in our 1910 townhouse. It was a complicated job involving careful demo, reinforcement, complete electrical renovation, finished carpentry, painting, staining, repair of very old hardwoods, relocation of a very large and heavy piece of furniture. They were highly professional every step of the way. And they kept the area neat and clean every day. They installed plastic walls with zippers for entrance and exit to keep the construction area away from the rest of our living spaces. Sticky doormats to collect debris from shoes was installed and changed out regularly. Our exterior stairs were covered in plastic. Andy and Bill, the owners, were super professional and communicative. Their crew is the best we’ve ever worked with. We’ve had numerous remodeling/contracting experiences in the past, and this one was without a doubt, the most professional with the highest caliber outcome. We plan to use them again in the near futur"

"Working with Vitale owner of MCI Renovation was an incredible experience. I gave him a mood board with my dream bathroom ideas, and he went above and beyond to bring it to life—even better than I imagined. He paid close attention to every detail, made thoughtful suggestions, and delivered everything on time and with care. Not only did he complete the renovation beautifully, but he also went the extra mile by doing additional work around the house without hesitation. He made sure everything was cleaned up thoroughly afterward, leaving the space spotless and ready to enjoy. He and his entire team was respectful, professional, and genuinely cared about making sure I was happy with every step of the process. I highly recommend MCI Renovation to anyone looking for high-quality work from someone who truly takes pride in what they do. I will have him return for my kitchen remodel. "

"They were responsive and did the work quickly. The quality was good. They did put a couple of scuffs on the floor moving an appliance, but then cleaned them. They had some complications with the work, but persevered and figured things out on their own. Overall the experience was good."

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Manhattan, NY

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
