"After reviewing several companies on Angie s List, I selected A Advanced Chimney Sweeps Company and spoke with Denise to schedule service. She quoted an initial estimate of $350 for a service call and stated the technicians would evaluate the carbon buildup on my gas fireplace logs and provide recommendations. The appointment was scheduled for January 22, 2026. Because I was not home at the time of service, I left a key to provide access. During the visit, the technicians called and recommended refurbishing the fireplace logs, which included cleaning them and replacing the glowing embers. This increased the cost to $375 plus an additional $125 for the replacement embers. When I returned home, the logs appeared clean; however, soot was left on the hearth and floor, which I had to clean myself. After lighting the fireplace using the remote (the technicians had replaced the batteries), carbon buildup quickly reappeared on both the logs and the grate, indicating the issue had not been resolved. In addition, the technicians used both the half bathroom and the master bathroom without permission. Soot marks were left on doors, door frames, light switches, and nearby walls in both bathrooms, as well as on a closet door in the master bedroom. Access to the master bathroom was not authorized and was unrelated to the contracted service. I contacted Denise via text to report the unauthorized bathroom use, the soot damage, and the continued carbon buildup (texts available). Denise stated it would cost an additional $250 for the company to return to clean the burner and replace the glowing embers again, despite already charging $125 for new embers during the initial visit. She also indicated there was no clear timeframe for a return visit and suggested I clean the burner myself to avoid the additional charge. Since that conversation, I have attempted to contact Denise multiple times by phone and text without receiving any response. Based on my experience, the service did not resolve the original issue, resulted in additional cleanup and damage, and follow-up communication was poor."
